  1. BenB - how did you get on with rear inner wheel repair panels? Cheers Rob
  2. Is that the rear one you are referring to? 2 or 4 door? I see 2 door ones on Paddocks but not 4. Any help much appreciated.
  3. Thanks for all your replies. Very helpful for a welding repair novice
  4. Cool. Which seam sealer ? Used paintable B&Q sealant before now...
  5. What's the best (and most cost effective!) primer to use on recently welded metal? Doing RR boot floor soon and getting the shopping list together Thanks! Rob
  6. Have you considered buying a MIG welder from Machine Mart and having a go yourself? You'll learn a lot and save lots. Always comes in handy on a Classic too
  7. Join a local club to avoid getting on wrong side of the law....
  8. You did the right thing and reported him to Plainwatch. As for the group of 8 - could you have taken their numbers and told the Police? Last time I was out there I passed an organised party of 12 to 15 motors!! Nuts Next time I will ask the organiser about "codes of conduct!" Mostly chavs that don't have a clue or care one bit - report them all at any opportunity. Take photos / videos - if safe etc.
  9. All we ask is that you stay legal in order to keep lanes open for all Best advice is to join a local group who know their stuff e.g. your local LR club will have a Rights of Way officer. in the meantime: http://www.lro.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48650 Check and double check Byway status with your local council RoW officer....
  10. It's a great piece of kit! Did you get the car windscreen mount too? I got full UK OS 1:50K too - bargain!
  11. Keep it and buy a eurobox for running around...what I do. Keeps the miles down on the RRC so you can insure it on a limited mileage policy too!
  12. Decent tyres is all you need and as said above don't go out and buy all the flashy sh*t until you can drive it properly! Snorkels are the devils work as they push people into deep water which will ultimately kill your motor - my opinion of course As FF said - wash it, wash it, wash it and keep on top of maintanence
  13. I use good old fashioned OS 1:50K maps suitably annnotated with highlighter pens following lots of homework on Trailwise and CC online maps. Also got a Memory Map Adventurer 2800 GPS unit so I can verify I'm in the right spot - invaluable on Salisbury Plain. It's small, compact and comes with a car charger. Windscreen mount bought seperately. Good piece of kit IMHO - quick to lock on to signal. Can be used on push bike / hand too

  15. Try North Wales Land Rover Club....been 20years since I was a member though....
  16. Good luck! Just bought a Clarke 151TE to learn to do stuff mysef and not pay someone! Look fwd to seeing the results.... This may be of use: http://www.yrm-metal-solutions.co.uk/ They now do a replacement section for the bulkhead body mount on front inner wing....
  17. Have you got the rear floor rubber seals? They are "corrugated" to match the floor...
  18. Its great to see a company producing high quality products that are no longer available in order to keep our motors on the road. They deserve a medal!
  19. Normandy D-Day Beaches (Omaha, Gold etc) and the Museums would be my advice. US cemetry, Pointe d'Hoc (bomb craters!), Arromanches (Mulberry Harbour)...lots of stuff... Bayeux D-Day Museum and British cemetry over the road too... Lots of campsites around there too...
  20. Ditch them I suggest - they cause more rot - just keep the arches nice and clean with a jet wash and well painted and waxoyled! Just my opinion....
  21. 1952 80" as a make-shift field ambulance after chap on quad bike hurtled down a ditch and it ended up on top of him! Carted him to farm yard to waiting ambulance then pulled quad out of ditch
