  1. Paul, looks cool. How are you doing the water cooling on the motors? Is it a spearate circuit, with Radiator, etc or is it plumbed into the enging coolant? Is this what you call resting? Mark
  2. I was hoping I could get away wih just doing the ne corner - hence the question really. All the time I was working on the wings, The pipes were capped off with a small dummy pipe that I made up. You should be able to see the bright copper in the picture: We will see what tomorrow brings.... ta Mark
  3. Bish, I couldn't clamp them as I had to undo where the flexi attaches to the copper. mog, that was pretty much the approach I was going to take, I just wanted to check that I wasn't making work for myself. It probably wouldn't hurt for new fluid... Cheers Mark
  4. Quick Question.... I have ad to disconnect the front offside flexible brake pipes while I was replacing the inner wing. Do I now need to bleed the entire system, or just that corner? ta Mark
  5. Jules, Not sure if it helps much, but the load bed on my 109" is almost exactly 6' long.... Mark
  6. VWP are very good, and have a good range of products. I just got an order of bits through today. However, if you price up all the cable (you can get all the correct colours) and connectors then you will probably find it is cheaper to get the harness already made! I presume you are talking about Autosparks to supply a premade harness? if not have a look at thier website If you just what basic connectors and Wiring, then Blue Beehive are pretty good and cheaper than VWP. Afaik they don't seem to do the multiway connections though. Cheers Mark
  7. Er, OK - you can have mine! please, take it!
  8. Orange and I could well be interested, in ARC class - Anyone got a link to the ARC rules? ta Mark
  9. Jim, Have you tried drilling an 8074 one yet? I need to do mine, but a normal HSS drill wouln't touch it... Cheers Mark
  10. This is getting far too techy, and might almost be considered relavent! This is supposed to be a bunfight!!! This isn't what they meant when they offered me the moderators job in here is it??? Mark
  11. I have been to Llanderchindda and it don't look like the photo, so I can only assume they are not the same! I believe Toms farm is more of a pay and play site whereas Llanderchindda is a B&B which is very 4x4 friendly ta Mark
  12. I changed one of my 2AA ones for a LED unit, and it is certainly brighter, and easier on the batteries, but dosn't have the throw that the filament bulb had. For a 2AA it isn't really an issue, but I have yet to try it on my 4D so will be interested to see what comes of this... Mark
  13. I have an LED one (one of these) which I have been pleased with. The only annoyance I have found is that it is 12V, so has to run off the vehicle. As it happens it has turned into a plus point, gos it means I can chuck it in the box with other spares for laning and use it whereever. The LED is pretty ecconomic on power, and I have not had any issues with it running out of juice. probably not what you are after, but it is an alternative. Mark
  14. Havn't they all saved Land Rover at some point? The Rangie did it, then the disco did it, the the freelander did it, what is going to save Land Rover next?
  15. I paid £500 for one in pretty much exactly that condition. Same mileage, good engine, MoT fail on the Sills and the floor was pretty much nonexistent. I think that the engine and ancillaries alone would fetch that sort of price, if you wanted to break it. Mark
  16. Spotted this on eBlag last night: Cheap Albright Clone They seem cheaper than a genuine albright, but they are not exactly super cheap. Has anyone used one? Are these the same as the sealed units that come with the ep9/come-up dv-9000? Cheers Mark
  17. Define funker?? There are several people that do Chequer plate door liners, particularly for the rear door. Mark
  18. Erm, I have a disco, and I have a IIA. The sensible part of me says I have the disco as it was offered to me very cheap, is a diesel and a coiler (always been on leaves before) and means I don't use my nice clean Audi as a Van. The less sensible bit of me says I have it cos I love Disco's - I always have. I remember my dad taking an early 3 door out for a test drive when they were first released, and then subsequenlty buying an early five door on an 'H' plate from the dealers. It was my first real experience of four wheel drive, and I have wanted one ever since. I am not particulaly attached to it, but it does so many things well enough that I really do like it. The IIA is a different story. I was my first car, my first real experience of building/restoring anything significant. When I was 16 I convinced my dad to buy it as a project. We then took it apart, and I spent the next few years putting it back together. It still gives me a real buzz to drive it as I know every nut and bolt on that car! Pretty much everything was done by me, or me and my brother or me and my dad, and sometimes even all three of us. If you want emotional attachment to a slow, noisy impractical, uncomfortable transformer green Brick, then there you have it. We had a lightweight for a few years. Lightweights tend to be a love or hate thing. I know Chris hates them, but I loved ours (technically it was my mrs's landy). It was breathed on by ACR and went very well, and had a very boy racer exhaust. With the top down it was perfect. I don't regret selling it as such, but I wish didn't have to! I get too attached to cars... I don't think any of them is the best land rover in the world, but they are mine! We have had the well reasoned arguments and I think I agree that this disco is pretty much the best all rounder (bar the rust issues ) but Chis, you asked for the more emotional responses. Honestly, I wish I could have an 80", a 101, a stage 1 CSW, a tricked up challenge prepped 90, an expedition equipped 300TDI 110 CSW, a range rover sport and a 3 door freelander soft-top (for the Mrs), but it aint gonna happen!!! As it happens, my favorite car (of my 3 - IIA Diesel, Disco 200 TDI, A3 TDI Quattro Sport), is whichever one I am driving at the time! Mark
  19. They do bolt through to a bracket under the floor that is a loose fit to the chassis via a rod arrangmenet. The bracket should also be rivetted through the floor though, to stop it moving. Have you tried any heat on the bolts? They are reasonably easy to get to underneath, so a couple of minutes with a gas gun type blow torch might do the trick? Other than that, then you are going to have to drill the heads off, and make good once they are off the vehicle. Alternatly, Why not use the type of harness that uses the clips? What sort of 3 point harness are you trying to fit, as I can't see where the third (top) point is going to come from? Cheers Mark
  20. jules, go here and make up some of your own... Sign builder hours of pointless psuedo-official signage fun! Mark
  21. I have to admit that despite my continued praises for the el-cheapo eBlag helmets, I just bought a speedglas 900X on the stregth of various peoples recomendations here. List price seems to be in the region of £250 but I managed to find one on eBay for £125, which I thought was pretty reasonable. It might be worth your stretching your budget if you can find an esab or speedglas unit for sensible money. Alternatly, the local welding shop to us (http://www.mercury-welding.co.uk/) were singing the praises of these helmets: which they are doing for £90 + VAT... just a thought Mark
  22. I have images of something like this:
  23. Al, No, it's not that hard, and your ability to do it is not in question, it is the fact that you don't have the right bit of paper to say you can do it that is the problem! If you can find a tame sparky, they just need to certify that it has been done correctly and safely, but that involves having all the right regulations met. If it was me, I would get hold of some wire in the old colours and claim it was all done before the new regs came into place... Mark
