Can't be, it's not Orange!
I think you will find it is a genuine X-Eng X-Brake disc handbrake as fitted to a 200TDI Discovery (mine). The Original, and still the best (to coin a phrase)...

Have a look at imagecave.com. Otherwise, send them to me, and I can find somewhere to put them! mark.catchpole_REMOVETHISBIT_@btinternet.com

If you are improving on the design then you are not copying it I guess. From a purely legal point of view you just have to prove that you version has some kind of innovation - and that could well be the material that you make it from.
If what you are doing is simply upgrading the tandard item, then I can't see a problem.

As has been said, any hint of water or mud/carp in the drum will cause it to stick. Taking the drum of and giving it a good clean should help...
Alternatly, replace it with one of these:
from X-Eng. I have been very pleased with mine, as I got utterly fed up with taking the thing apart to clean it!

There is a very big difference between making something for yourself cos you can't afford on / can do it better / prefer to build it yourself / whatever than blatantly using somone elses product to guage market interest and then once the other guy has taken the risk and invested in the development copying the product to profit from it.

Hello Ray,

Toger,
I found our local club on this very forum (or at least, it's predecessor). If you ask in the int forum, Someone will have a good suggestion for a local club to you. Alternatly, some of th mags have club listings in them too.
As I said I found a local club to be better than a national one, but if there is no-one local to you, then the national one is a good place to start!

In which case no, I would say there are very few DOC members. I would say that Discovery owners are in the minority here compared to say Defender or Rangie owners. Series owners are a rare and hardy breed, and getting rarer!
Sorry probably came accross a bit sharp, but I am just curious why the question? I used to be a member of the Series 2 club but found it to be a bit pointless, so now I stick to my local club rather than a national one.

I presume by 'the forum' you mean the Disco Forum....
I post here, and I am not a member. Are you recruiting? If so, what are the benefits?

have you tried All Wheel Trim? They have always been very helpful when I have spoken to them in the past, although I have never actually bought off them...

Glad to see there is so much support out there, and well deserved too. Is it just me or does this remind anyone else of Convoy* too????

*look it up on imdb if you don't know what I'm on about!
Simon has supplied Scrapiron with x-brakes in the past for resale. The Picture on the website shows the item that they are (were) selling - ie a genuine X-Brake but as was inevitable they have now copied it, and hence the thread. I guess they were selling the genuine one just long enough that they could come up with thier knock off....
