  1. Maybe, but it's the bloke flu you've got to watch out for!
  2. You could buy a lightweight if you fancied.... [see my sig... ] Cheers Mark
  3. RogueVogue's has been bullnosed as well, but you wouldn't really notice unless you put a standard rangie next to it - it's a very neat job. sorry I can't help on the other stuff though...
  4. just a note, but that is RogueVogue's Truck rather than White90's.... Mark
  5. Yeah, hence the need for decent shocks! I suspect that they are under damped, which is why I was avoiding the procomps. If anyone can suggest a good source for OME or Boge shocks that would be helpful for comparison. Ta Mark
  6. Not uprated or extended or anything! I am looking at shocks to go with RR HD Police Spec Springs on my Disco. I want decent off-road performance, but i also want to be able to tow heavy things... So I want some decent manufactuerers please? I seem to remember something about De Carbon shocks breaking... Anyway, experiences and suggestions much appreciated ta Mark
  7. Paul, We had a good day out! Spent the morning with finding bits not to get stuck it, but failed! Very glad to have gained Tom in his 90 (with ATs) and his Husky to pull us out of a few sticky bits, and spent the afternoon playing slalom in the trees and getting stuck on a log! I think that without toms winch we would have got quite fed up, quite quickly. Mud tyres were an absolute must and een then we kept to the fairly tame bits! Mike, Adrian and Chrsi took loads of pictures, but I didnt manage to take 1! I will put some of thiers up when I see them! It was good to have such a good site effectivly on the doorstep though! Cheers Mark
  8. Luke, please don't quote me as an expert! I bought my welder as a result of reading lots of stuff on here (well the old forum actually) and talking to people I consider to be experts! Personally, I think a decent 150A machine will do most landy stuff. The important thing isn't necessarily the Amperage. The Duty cycle will give you a much better idea of the quality of the machine, specifically if you compare at a standard value - eg duty cycle at 100A. I got the 175 machine cos a) that was what was available and B) the cheapo hobby stuff dosn't usually go up that high, so it should be a decent machine! Incidentally I would steer clear of certain of the hobby type stuff. Not from experience, but from advice of numerous people... Cheers Mark
  9. Well, I think so! Butters mostly make industrial stuff, so they ought to know about welders. There were certain characteristics I was recomonded to look for when buying a welder - Get a decent Amp rating - get a decent duty cycle - get one with a euro plug on the torch, so you can always get spares and/or replace with an off the shelf item - get one which takes full size reels. - get one which uses proper bottles - it's much chaper in the long run. This one ticked all the boxes, and so far I have never managed to get the themal cut-out to kick in. I am generally very pleased with it. Hope that helps, sorry for the thread hijack! Mark
  10. Rob, Thought you were going 300TDI? Mark
  11. I did well with my welder from eBay. It is a butters 175A unit which was virtally unused. It was listed in the wrong category (Musical Instruments ). Anyway, I made the bloke an offer and got it for £200. admittedlty I had to go up to kiderminster to get it, but I havn't seen a butters 175A single phase unit for anything near that price since - you just have to keep your eyes open! Mark
  12. Playing devils advocate... There is really nothing stopping some jounalist coming on to this forum, reading a thread, and basing an article on it with no credit or recognition whatsoever. I would far rather they asked, and acknolegded that the information came from this source, than passed off said 'article' as thier own. Mark
  13. damn I thought I had spotted that pretty quick! Typical...
  14. Oooh yeah, I'll have one too! Would be good to get a Group Buy going. B) Cheers Mark
  15. Jon, I can do standard shackles on TIC parabiolics if that is any use to you? Will be tonight though! Mark
  16. Hmmmm all looks far too familiar... cheers for the pix les. Not sure what I have let myself in for here. Trying to sort some kind of accomadation to do the work at the moment.... Cheers Mark
  17. Cool. Package arrived from amazon today so should be sorted! Ta Mark
  18. I would say 'notorious', or maybe even 'imfamous' would be more appropriate... Mark
  19. Les, Pictures would be great. I came to the conclusion that something needen to be done when I discovered there isn't actually any metal left between the light panel and the inner wing.... Sounds expensive though. Paddocks sell a RR inner wing repair section for £45 + vat. How did you get to £180??? What am I missing? Cheers Mark
  20. More disco distress I'm afraid. What is it about all this steel bodywork???? Anyway, The o/s inner wing on my disco is disintegrating in more places than I think is healthy. Does anyone do a repair section or do I have to fabricate somethinf myself? I have found repair sections for the other normal rusty bits (mine has them all with extra rust on top) ie Sills, and Rear floor, but cannot find inner wing sections. Are tey the same as Rangie ones? Cheers Mark
  21. Grrrr, it was bl**dy snowing in horsham this morning I had planned to spend the day welding sills into the disco, but with everything now damp i didn't get anywhere. hope Tomorrow is beter... Mark
  22. Is Land Ranger detailed enough (1:50,000)? I was going to look at the explorer and outdoor lesiure maps - ie 1:25,000..
  23. Without looking at the maps I don't know how far I plan to travel.... Cheers for the info Chris. Mark
  24. Sadly I have already been told that we are not doing offroading for our wedding anniversary! I will work on it though.... Hmmm... Mark
