If I was in the UK I would do a road trip.....

Done many one off looms..

I did a custom loom for a Landie from scratch years ago. Two halfish days....

If no one volunteers I am sure you will nail it Stephen!

Ho Ho Ho and all that!

It's Christmas morning here in Aus!

28 degrees and maybe a thunderstorm this arvo! 🥶

And you would be most welcome Dave

All the seasons greetings to you and yours regards stephen

My top tip is go to your local wreckers (scrap yard) find an older estate car.

Modern cars have skinny wires for Can bus shenanigans....

Locate the main fuse box and cut the loom that goes to the back of the car.

You end up with a range of gauges and heaps of different colours.

They only charge $10 here. Grab a couple and you're all set.

Also pull every fuse (they fit in your pocket!) 😁

Fridge had a fair bit left over, so he may be able to sort you out with some

I have miles of it in a variety of flavours, @Stellaghost PM me your address and how much you think you might need.

Edit: I also have a lot of the standard Lucas wiring colours so let me know if you need any of those too.

Thanks very much John, but I'm gonna skip the spiral wrap for now @Anderzander is sending me role of cable wrap which I will try first, I also have two looms I cut out of a couple of D1's, and umpteen roles of various coloured wire, so plenty of coloured wire also, thanks regards Stephen

Blimey, we've moved from British car tolerances to Japanese tolerances!

Out of curiosity will the chassis flex enough to cause the steering shaft to contact the suspension mount?

My immediate answer would be no with nuke spec chassis...

But the sensible answer is, I will keep an eye on it and modify it if required, it would be easy enough to take another couple of mm's if needed.

There is a lot of strength in that area so flex may be deferred elsewhere, here's hoping anyway

Little bit of a funny story with what you've said there..

One of the fitters where I work was watching me set up the tolerances on my brake discs and calipers, I had stopped for a minute to contemplate my measurements, and he asked me what I was thinking, so I told I may him I may need to add a shim because my measurements were out by 0.2mm....

He looked at me and said " it's a bloody Landrover, an inch would be acceptable "

Had to laugh because he was kind of right so I left it as it was and I've had no issues with it

That's correct, I don't have a torque wrench that goes high enough

750 ft/lbs guesstimate later and locking tabs knocked over, just a wee bit of paint to complete
