Maverik
Something others might find interesting, I started following this crowd on Instagram and I'm pretty impressed the lengths gone to properly build a performance 200tdi. Gazzar
I struggle with face book. What did they do, exactly?
Maverik
Some screen grabs that show some of the work, Pretty much blue printed a 200tdi - high lift cam as some serious pump injection upgrades too amongst other things. they got Protection and Performance to do a 3d scan of the engine to allow them to make up much more accurate mock ups for the hi flow manifolds. Nonimouse
Reminds me of Andrew Graham's old 200tdi racer. 250bhp at the flywheel. Flames out of the exhaust. He was running a very interesting cam amongst other things. And it was reliable
Gazzar
I've a turner head, a diesel Bob IP, do I need a fancy cam and a manifold to make my series pickup go better? How do I get all these things to work together to have smooth power, so my gearbox will stay intact? I don't want all the power to kick in at silly revs,
Gazzar
What about the turbo? Can I fit a snorkel?
cackshifter
Actually the power boost secret is the orange valve cover; the rest is just cosmetic. 1
Gazzar
I've a can of ford orange paint. Would that smooth out the torque curve, or just give top end HP?
Anderzander
I think if it’s crinkle finish it does both 🏆
cackshifter
Well in fairness I guess, the ARP studs and the Kent cam are things I haven't heard of for *tdis, or seen in their respective catalogues. And it is good to see someone do the basics. I think the finish will certainly spontaneously crinkle if it is ragged.
bishbosh
and in episode two they're going to turn a hot air balloon into a submarine....! I'll get my coat......
hurbie
i do wonder how long the headgasket is going to last with 50psi /3.4 Bar turbopressure 😵 the ARP studs might be a nice upgrade (i wonder if you torque these the same as bolts )
