LT77 / R380 Slickshift

Raising the fulcrum-point was always the traditional way of gettting a "quickshift" on the old ~rocket~ and ~bullet~ boxes on Ford Escort and Sierra rally-cars. Must admit, my experience of R380 boxes is that even with the standard stirring-thick-porridge-with-a-long-floppy-thing gearlever you can still easily beat the synchros so can't honestly see the point of trying to make the gearshift any quicker.

[A spring-rebiasing so from neutral it 'homes' to the 1st/2nd-gear position would be the only mod I'd make to the R380]

If you really want a budget "quickshift", cut six inches off the lever, re-thread the end and re-fit the knob!

If the Defender stick is too long for you, swap the box for a Disco one, with its shorter stick. You'd need the closer position this affords the driver to be able to reach it anyway.
