  1. you mean a private car like anything heavier than a fiesta? most large saloons estates and 4x4s must be close to or over 2500kg?
  2. ha quick tow down by Benny to a petrol station and a quick call saw us catch a big orange taxi home, driven by a part time rally driver so was 100 miles home and unloaded in 2 and a quarter hours ?
  3. not entirely sure looks like it bounced up and hit the viscous fan and got propelled through, unlucky eh?
  4. That's surprising, I've ordered from them before but had stopped using them due to the excess delay in ordering parts supposedly on the shelf and them turning up, won't be getting any more custom from me until you get your apology!
  5. nice to finally put some faces to names, drove some fantastic lanes before my day got cut short by a sizeable rock through the rad!
  6. I'd be interested to know who they are, I'm fed up of people having no manners
  7. well 10 hours in the horizontal rain later and a new dash loom, a new battery a new set of injector seals and a full service just culminated with finding the sump plug washer on the floor ? however I shouted at it and everything is now behaving again? see you all on Saturday in the car park at 9? what cb channel are you using? Mike
  8. I bet a lawyer could wriggle out even if the breakage was videoed happening as 'off-road use' is a massive grey area, ie how extreme do land rover say you can go? a muddy green lane or full Orange ?
  9. well I finally (!) got a chance to weigh them, as they arrive completely bare the fronts weigh 5.5kg the rears weigh 4.5kg
  10. haven't looked at price but toolstation have started selling plastic air pipe stuff mike
  11. indeed, although testing would probably give you a number, it would presumably be up to you to prove that number was not fit for purpose?
  12. I think you would have to break a set that had been fitted by a land rover dealer to a completely standard defender, and break them driving legally on the road to have any chance in court otherwise I think there would be too much legal wiggle room?
  13. agreed, watchdog would be more use than Britparts marketing department at lro
  14. I'm loving the attention to detail with is project, and very jealous of the workshop!
  15. I realise that it's probably very dependent on how hospitable the bar is but any idea roughly what time on the Saturday morning you chaps will be up and about? just so I can workout when to leave my house looking forward to finally meeting you all! mike
  16. ok thanks guys looks like I need to cut a bigger hole in the tread plate! yes there's a plastic washer thing that has an insert thing that goes down the hole to insulate it from the wing Cheers mike
  17. hi my new antenna mount is a through-body type, ie you drill a 10mm hole in the bodywork to fit it, it came with 2 plastic moulded washers that look like they sandwich the body in between, I assume the are weatherproofing/cosmetic, I am mounting mine on the wing so don't need them to be waterproof, my wing top is too thick to use them so can I just fit it through the wing and have it in electrical contact with body or does it need insulating from the body? Ta Mike
  18. I got mine from safari equip, very happy with it Mike
  19. that looks like where the body crossmember would be on a station wagon, they obviously make 1 slider to fit all models
  20. when I bought new 1 piece doors for my last 110 they cost me 50% of the purchase price of it!!!
  21. +1 for the snow cowl, cheap and easy to fit and makes a big difference
  22. might be able to get down to my garage tomorrow and weigh them
  23. exactly! owning land rovers for the past 11 years has given me a pathological hatred of rust! I got mine from ama, www.amaservices.biz, they are about £250 each which is what a decent 2nd hand metal door is on eBay Mike
  24. I bought fibreglass ones but haven't got round to fitting them yet, they are very light and seem pretty well made but we'll see what the fits like when I get round to it!
