  1. Hmm haven't investigated the belt too closely, I just assumed the chirp was the pulley, it's only on switching off the engine and it's been getting worse, the belt is relatively new since I fitted my air con compressor, I'll investigate a bit more thoroughly in daylight tomorrow! Mike
  2. Hmm I suppose I'll have to hope that the carp one might last me a while given I don't do a huge mileage Thanks guys
  3. It may have slowly migrated its way up the breathers a little mist at a time Mike
  4. Hi all, My TD5 110 is doing a budgie impression when switching off, at 155k miles I'm suspecting the damper, when pricing up it appears to be no longer available from LR? The britpart one is listed at £380, and allmakes at £700+ (!) From previous threads I was expecting about £380 for a genuine one so has BP taken over supplying oem ones? At £750 I'll let it pop and put a low mileage disco engine in! Mike
  5. How much is a second hand bottle on eBay?!
  6. To confuse matters the law changed fairly recently for post 97 drivers, you may now tow any combination you like on a b licence as long as the actual physical weight (ie the read out in kg from a weighbridge) of the combination doesn't exceed 3500kg, or you may tow up to 750kg mam behind up to 3500kg mam as per the old rules... It seems to be an attempt to simplify matters, I emailed the dvla to check and they confirmed the above, I took my 110 csw to the weighbridge, FYI it was 2400kg with me, half a tank of diesel and all my ropes, hi lift and toolbox on board, my unladen sankey was 360kg, so under the new rules I can carry up to 740kg of treasures and be legal... Full details on the direct.gov website! Mike
  7. The series 3 sides will fit with a little trimming and are readily available new, although I think they are about 150 each...
  8. Err with tin hat on I'd have a serious read through the iva guidelines before you fit a replacement chassis with a different engine, you may fall foul of the rules and need a test, there's plenty of accurate info on the direct.gov motoring section Mike
  9. Yes I mike I read all of your build, very inspiring, I'm limited by my licence to 750kg, don't think my wife and daughter would appreciate sleeping in a trialer!
  10. Did you do a write up of the build? I was thinking of making a little (<750kg) teardrop caravan in stead of getting a roof tent, do you have any pics? Mike
  11. IIRC I don't think the rover axle is legally rated high enough for the 110 max weight, until they used the p38 type one which was roughly 2004 ish? It's one of those things that would be absolutely fine in practice but if you had an accident it would likely give the insurance company a way to weasel out of paying! The only other difference is the prop lengths Mike
  12. FYI I just got my costco discount leaflet through and they are selling a Swann 8 channel system with a 1TB hard drive, 3 bullet cameras and a pan/tilt dome camera for £350 delivered, I know nothing about CCTV but thought I'd mention it! Mike
  13. Glad you're mobile again! IIRC the FIP can pull some fuel through on its own, enough to just about run but not rev Sadly the mechanical lift pumps seem to be a bit of a lottery when it comes to longevity! Mike
  14. To test the pump, take the outlet off and either pump the manual priming lever (if it's same as 200) or turn the engine over, fuel should pump out, if the diaphragm is split it may just trickle out The other test is to gravity feed diesel straight from a jerry can or similar straight to the FIP, if that cures your problem you know the pump is faulty Mike
  15. Once I'd got over throwing up into my mouth, I immediately thought how long would it be before someone removed the 'er' from the sticker!
  16. I tapped mine extremely carefully into place with a deep socket that just fitted over the nozzle
  17. Get back in a normal car and get that horrible sensation your feet are about to hit the speed bump
  18. The costco one is excellent, has taken a lot of abuse and will lift a 110 easily with about a foot under the wheels, it's also low enough to go under anything I tried it on including a lowered 190 cosworth and it's ridiculous skirt, agree with above though it's very very heavy!
  19. it took a little while to swap them over, but while it was all off I got my OBA compressor modified and installed and got the front waxoyled etc! back in one piece now Ta
  20. finally got a day off to replace the rad, have honestly no idea how this happened!
