  1. Having today received confirmation from someone who works on the chassis line at gkn that they are ceasing to make them very soon, in my mind this means that marsland will lose their supply, therefore (I guess) Richards ones will be in even more demand....
  2. Richards ones do not come (or didn't three years ago) with holes for fuel and brake lines.... marsland do. However as they are brand new genuine gkn chassis' s you have to use the same clipd as the new defenders..... not the original type 300 clips..
  3. But the clutch works..... The only thing I can think is that the bleed hole in the slave is blocked..... its good practice to replace both at the same time anyway. ... For the cost of a slave just replace it. ... you won't be able to bleed it as it is anyway. .... and by the time you've dislodged some carp its bound to start leaking before long. ...
  4. Cat, yes that's correct. ... what I find s bit odd is that the ecu only triggers each set of injectors each time a cylinder on that side requires fuel...... so there are effectively four pulses of fuel per cylinder per cycle....... no wonder they're not the most fuel efficient engines. .....
  5. They're easily available. ... I ordered a pr this week. .. They are opposite to each other so make sure you fit the right one on each side. ...
  6. Thats the coolant sensor for the dash.....The one in front of it with the connection on already is the ecu one. ... I guess land rover must have kept the two systems separate for some reason? ?....
  7. 1989 ... so 200tdi??.... Gearbox mounts should be bolt on so not an issue, (apart from lever position if using a stock disci box).... However you will have no choice but to change the engine mounts.... The 300/200 set ups aren't simply interchangeable. ..
  8. I believe that the switch you questioned is for the electric fan.... I have two fans, one wired from that and one from a different sensor so I have two independent systems....
  9. Ignore that. ... I didn't see the second page of the thread and replied to the purge valve question. ...
  10. I suspect that the price increase might have something to do with Land Rover claiming the use of the words 'land rover' in the co name was illegal. ... Their now called sp4x4..... it costs money to fight such things and then re brand everything when you lose .....
  11. 2011/12 is a puma...... so transit gearbox. ... ring dave (ashtrans aka ashcroft transmission) on Monday as he's a top bloke willing to give good advice over the phone whereas all the garage they've been to want to do is make money from them. .....
  12. I have driven maybe 50 miles since fitting it, simple to fit... The instructions are download able on their site. ..... bigger bang, sounds gruffer, revs cleaner and faster..... can definitely feel the difference ......
  13. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=301435249937&alt=web That's the one I meant..... However, I have recently fitted one of the rpi ones and all I will say is that it's great, however it might not fit in with your brief of using standard serviceable equipment.....
  14. His engine is obviously a serpentine version. .... The amplifier is on a bracket next to the coil..... The earlier version had it on the dizzy but they're prone to failure. .... if you search eBay for rover v8 ignition amp there's a kit that would suit you. ... its for modifying an earlier version but the amp and brackets are the same. ... However ... Some of the kits were made with the two wires the wrong way round. ... so if it doesn't run straight away that might be the reason. ....
  15. The design of most slider greasing points is flawed.... The nipple on mine is near the uj. So all the grease does is ooze out of the grommet. ... even with the nipple half way down the slider the grease doesn't go all the way around. ... I remove and manually grease mine about every 500 miles. .... and I very rarely go through water for prolonged periods. ...
  16. I had exactly the same when I tried on my 300..... again the supplier sent another but neither worked.... so both were sent back.... I wondered if there were two ways they wired the wipers during production...... however I can't imagine land rover changing something that worked ok..... when they still haven't changed some things that don't work!
  17. With different size tyres front and back AND the diff locked it really won't be happy at all.....
  18. I think the seats are slightly further inboard on the pume....
  19. Lay underneath and work out where the mechanism is (on top of the front shaft housing)... get someone to wiggle the lever and then pysh it a bit further. ... The plastic bushes in the linkage wear and stop full movement. ...
  20. The only real way to get the ratio for certain is to count the teeth..... The difference between a 1.192 and a 1.211 isn't much per rotation. ....
  21. Without wishing to stick my nose in.... I'm amazed that anyone would want a bespoke chassis for winch type events..... WITH anti roll bar mounts!!
  22. Both connectors are intact. ... so probably the switch itself I guess. ... ta
  23. Mine only works on the slower speed. ... what's potentially the issue? ?.....
