  1. I love the fact someone got there own back on you. You deserve it. Mike
  2. Yeah about that.... I think the paint may make it to the end of the week but I doubt it'll last much longer. It doesn't appear to be waterproof which is quite worrying for a garage floor paint. I'm hoping it's just because it takes 72hrs to fully dry but there are a couple of bits that seem to of lifted, stuck to my shoe then I walked it around the house. Oh yes she was well impressed with that.... Mike
  3. I concur with above but sadly not a good time for me either. If he was still here I'd happily lend a physical hand. Mike
  4. Mine didn't move to much in fact one of the rear doors locks better now than it did. If you support right up the front of the rear arch you'll be directly under the bulkhead and back of the cab. This area is probably stronger on a crew cab than on a csw, so if it was me I'd happily support/lift on the front bulkhead either side and the same on the rear bulkhead (you will probably need a board across between chassis and body). Mike
  5. Living longer is a small part of it, population growth is the larger problem. Worryingly population growth is responsible for far more of our problems than anyone wants to address. Mike
  6. The job I do isn't paid that we'll given what I need to know to do it, but restoring classic wooden powerboats is about the best I'm likely to get in the marine industry. I do enjoy my job and that counts for a hell of a lot. However working till I'm 70 (still 23 years away) in a manual job isn't likely to go well. So to the idiot office worker that decided to raise retirement age I salute you as the biggest *#@+ ever to walk the planet. Meanwhile I plan to enjoy myself as much as I can before I die. Mike
  7. I clean my heads up using fine wet and dry with a block of perspex and a squirt of wd40, in an effort to keep it flat. Mike
  8. This is how I did it. I lifted the rear with an engine crane on the rear seatbelt mounts. Mike
  9. Looks less like slurry now. Not sure how it'll last and it could do with another coat (it won't be getting one though). Hopefully I can start moving stuff around and into. Mike
  10. I went through about 3 sets before I switched to genuine, they've done about 15k so far with a reasonable amount of off roading. Mike
  11. Nice cup bucket of tea, ooh I don't mind if I do. Mike
  12. I must admit I've always just put a 3 hole head gasket on but then I'm normally in a rush. It's easier to just order a 3 hole than the time to pull the head measure then order. Mike
  13. It seemed to weep out of any joint it could (same joints are dry with blue in). I'm not convinced that it wasn't oat that caused my Ali radiator to fail, just a gut feeling I'll admit. We've always had blue in the 110 and given oat is more expensive I've not seen any benefit. Mike
  14. Ironically I was given a load of oat antifreeze while building the ibex so used it. I'm also unimpressed and have now gone back to blue. Mike
  15. This explains a lot about you. Says the guy who also doesn't drink or smoke either but has a serious cake habit. If I worked in an office I'd be 20 stone by now. Mike
  16. Due to the radiator issue I ended up ordering a new aluminium radiator because it would have threaded spiggots I could just attach the oil pipes to.......... except it turned up with bosses the same as the brass radiator unlike the pictures. After a trip to our local hydraulic hose shop (I escaped for under £5), I now have two elbows and the adaptors robbed off TSD's old radiator this gives a dog leg at the bottom. A liberal adjustment of the metal pipes and it's all in. While I was at it I fitted new standard bump stops. I did have poly bush style and I think this flexed the bracket's causing one to break. Mike
  17. There are really only a few thing that will stop you driving home. Top of my list is steering bars and fuel tank, if you have a tow bar that's good enough for a rear tank. Side tank are generally ok unless you get really carried away. HD steering bars are worth the investment, but as fridge says a standard land rover (or other 4x4) will get far further than most people's talent. The single best thing you can do to improve a 4x4 is get some good quality driver training, whether you pay for this (get a recommendation) or find a local club and watch people, ask questions but above all go for that bloke that just seems to drive around with no fuss and just seems to get everywhere. Mike
  18. You and Chris are the only people I know that have damaged a transfer box. Even running a pto drop box that hangs lower than the transfer box I've not really worried about it. Mike
  19. I nip the first one up with a bar, spin the hub then slacken it and re-tighten it by hand on the box spanner. Fit lock washer and outer nut then fold tab over inner nut. The outer gets wound up FT with a power bar. Hammer tabs over. Mike
  20. I have a box spanner that has a plate on the end with a square hole for a ½"drive power bar. Mike
  21. 200tdi's are known for running cool generally they get colder at tick over. If mine was running hot first I'd check the radiator isn't clogged/empty (assume you already have) then I'd be taking the head off I'm afraid. Mike Just a thought have you checked or changed the water pump I've had the impeller shear off before.
