  1. I am not overly familiar with early stuff but it doesn't seem to be a rover number, best guess would be that it was rebuilt at some point and the shop put their own number on it? There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here, but you would certainly get more interest and response if you share a bit more about your project and maybe a few pictures, many of us are interested in Series 1 and more than a few have been shipped from Australia in recent years to become projects in the UK. Welcome anyway and I look forward to finding out what the engine is from/for.
  2. That old post is a good read,... is @e-minor still around?, I would like to know how he got on with the Scania cab spring idea?
  3. First instinct is to ask where the head gasket job was done, sounds like they didn't do much checking and testing after the rebuild, which any reputable outfit would surely have done? Was the head thoroughly checked over while it was off? On the face of it if flushing the system alters the behaviour then the water is going somewhere it shouldn't and that is bad news. You need to start a conversation with whoever did the head gasket asap
  4. As above, only these days they do seem to require a supporting letter where engines have been changed, ... even though yours is the same type fuel etc. If you anticipate the question and send some headed letter (executed to a good standard etc.) with it it may just save a little time. I know my 110 to 130 is an IVA and and I got a DVLA chassis number issued in advance, but in your case I think you are safely within the points.
  5. Good trailer, a neighbour in France who was ex GPO acquired one from them in the 70's. Nicely made. It used to do 3000 mile round trips every year. The wheels aren't the same, but they look pretty good and it solves the tyre problem. Looks as if someone has changed the original 2" hitch over as well .... probably just as well.
  6. VIN No. in the windscreen will be a pita?
  7. Shouldn't read too much into the photo,.... I am sure it will say somewhere that they are 'non-contractual'??
  8. Also just tried translating ' cars for sale' on google into Portuguese and Spanish and it throws up olx.pt and coches.net as the top options.
  9. ... also https://www.lacentrale.fr/ , but I may be out of date, perhaps @Arjan will have some up to date possibilities??
  10. Rarity is the thing, ... that's why they hold their money. To buy new there isn't that much difference between that one and its bigger siblings, so the only new market tends to be fairly specialised. Mind you there are a couple of companies put them on Ifor Williams trailers, trouble is they don't come on the second hand market very often.
  11. Beauty is considered to be in the eye of the beholder ....... we just don't know which eye, where he keeps it , or what he feeds it on; clearly it is capable of a perspective outside of normal parametres.
  12. I remember about 1985, my first proper job in a Volvo dealership parts department, one came in part exchange, under the bonnet seemed a nightmare of plumbing. ..... I am braver these days,.. but not that brave,... bon courage!
  13. Thanks Monkie, well the price looks appealing, I could blank off the purge loop and make a mount for it without too much trouble, I guess I was thinking only of the cast housing/mount style but why not simplify it even further, certainly would be fewer potential leak paths.
  14. Slightly 'Off Topic' but I'll chance it............ on the basis that I'd like to sort it before the RRC gets some attention for its MOT/NCT Elderly John Deere 455 lawn mower (yanmar diesel) dusted off this week for its annual service, ...all good except the fuel filter leak I have been nursing along for a couple of years at the inlet elbow fitting. I have been looking at replacing the unit ebay linky .... but its not that cheap and the quality of the original doesn't impress anyway, also comes with uncertain level of import charges, I was just thinking there has to be something more cost effective for an old mower and my neighbour works at a car dismantlers so a good second hand unit from a diesel motor would be great, normally I could wander in and have a look but not during the Covid so I need to ask for something specific. Found this other ebay item which might suit, doesn't seem too enormous, but I just thought I would ask if anyone knows of a really good useful unit from some vehicle I haven't found? I have three pipes to connect, ... in, out, and the purge/return loop. I don't have any sensors but obviously if it comes with water and or pressure sensor that doesn't really matter.
  15. Bag leaks can be like that,.... the leak is often on the worn area where it folds under, only leaking if exposed when parked. You need to track it down and fix / replace asap, over working the compressor is going to shorten it's life dramatically. Soapy water and jack it up slightly should clarify what's what for you.
  16. Seem to remember a few running around (Ku) Hull, parks and gardens etc. ..never seen one close to, but the little tipper could be very useful, ... cheap enough to keep on the road just for fun.
  17. My mistake, most are auto. In which case I think it is R380.
  18. My favourite EAS mod is to put T-pieces and Schrader valves in the four wheel lines and the tank feed just near the valve block, enables you to check for leaks and if necessary drive the vehicle in case of a malfunction elsewhere. There is a guy RSW, Richard Storey Wilson who does some free basic software called EAS unlock which will help you reset codes etc. I recommend searching for articles on here and Rangerovers.net and Rangerovers.pub, most issues are well known now and have solutions, everyone does it slightly differently but with a little perseverance you can solve most issues. I wonder if your biggest issue will be the 6.2 vs the 4hp22 transmission? might be a little lightweight?
  19. I have been looking out for some .... any cheaper options out there??
  20. ..... interesting, they appear to be offset, suggesting the cog was, .....
  21. It not magic, it is just stabilised using the organic acid to make it suitable for modern engines with fancy alloy components, including vw /bmw and many others Generally disco pink/orange sometimes electric green/yellow NOT blue.
