  1. The only thing strange when I filled in the 'link' fields was that the title disappeared?
  2. Something going on here............ https://www.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/land-rover/27860482 There is an appealing sense of humour in the text but I think there is some key missing information.
  3. Except possibly.... (being picky)..... the rear corner where the deep trims just end abruptly, I wonder if it should have carried round in some way? Or possibly just been angled up more steeply to meet the cross member?
  4. Shame it isn't closer, .... just outside my 20km radius at present! 😁
  5. It might start a trend?... wonder if we'll see it again. (..... and wondering now if I should hang on to my 130 )
  6. +1 for a close look at the front driveshaft, ... and if poss raise and support the axle clear of the ground to free things up, I had a mysterious vibration for ages , it wasn't until I checked the prop uj's myself, (instead of taking the tyre shops word for it) that I found the problem.
  7. .... on that there are a couple of things you can do. Firstly buy the ply from a proper timber merchant, good quality exterior grades of ply will put up with an occaisional soaking. Beware of anything described as 'Marine' ply unless it carries BS1088 marking, (but be prepared for the cost of it!), .. genuine BS1088 is much more expensive. The second thing you can do which will make the best of any plywood is warm it up indoors/inside, and then coat it in marine grade two part epoxy, the warmer you get it the more moisture is expelled and the further in the grain the epoxy is drawn. A well coated ply panel on my brother-in-laws boat was as good as new after 40yrs when I cut into it.
  8. Widlar sounds like an interesting lad 😁, ..... hadn't come across that before.
  9. Keen to know what form that LR is going to take, ..... always loved his sense of humour and I think Anne has that part of his character.
  10. Hmmmm, oil tank sensor is actually something I would like! .... I need to get RFI savvy ; ... that much is now obvious! Thanks lads... you learn (re-learn sometimes) something everyday
  11. We are fairly out in the sticks so some of the suggestions are less likely,... switching off the whole house seems drastic but would be a good start, also hadn't considered it but we do have a newish Aldi weather station, now that might get its batteries pulled for a it tomorrow as well. I suppose what was in my mind was a low cost spectrum analyser of some sort to direction find likely culprits but it makes sense to exclude the obvious and easy first.
  12. Fairly straightforward now, some body I found on the tube had documented the differences, different colour stickers and when you open the box, the differences on the circuit board are immediately obvoius.
  13. Thanks Steve, I hadn't seen that, I had seen the price of the 3rd gen and already decided that it's too much money!
  14. Just spent a couple of hours yesterday and today going through both fuse boxes looking for a spurious current draw, as the battery seems recently short lived without the charger connected (vehicle sorned for Covid still), finally got the rear parcel shelf support off its clips and examined the RF receiver. To my surprise it is the first generation on a 2001 car, anyway.... unplugged the aerial and all is well. Current draw drops from about 0.55Amps to .03 or 4 when the Becm goes to sleep which I think is pretty normal. I just wondered whether there is a (relatively cheap/simple) way to locate which RF and where from is the likely culprit? Any thoughts?
  15. It is a well known issue with them, even though you have cleaned it out the oil can still cause you trouble, revised/improved engine top looms are available, I bought a genuine one for about £60 (admittedly that's a few years ago now!) and never had any more trouble. In my case the engine was missing quite badly when warm. Good find though 👍
  16. Could be an explanation in part, the ID of a vehicle is 100% invested in the chassis in Ireland. But chassis alterations would require an engineers report.............. But apparently it is on a UK plate? The year of the Irish plate and the B reg are the same on the face of it.
  17. I guess it is quite possible that the record is flawed on occasion, Jaguar Land Rover weren't in great shape at the time and the museum record will be created with the production record. With numbers that close it is more than possible that a substitution was made in the line for some reason. The real question is how important is the correct record to you in terms of the value of the car. If you can get a declaration/attestation signed by the two previous owners then the record might be corrected? Worth asking? Otherwise point out to the vendor the incorrect detail of the record and make sure you don't pay an unnecessarily high price.
  18. In your favour prices are strong at the moment anyway, so lets hope that it doesn't come to arguing the toss and adding to the stress. But in addition to the above good advice, it is worth bearing in mind that insurance companies play with numbers, they have good experience of how much costs grow above estimates, I got my sister's ''written off'' car repaired a couple of years ago by getting the body shop to agree a fixed price the insurance company could live with. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  19. Martrim might be worth asking, they are surrounded by smaller traditional businesses which cater for all car stuff, if they can't do it they may know a small shop that can?
  20. No but I the heavy lorry curtain sides/boat cover stuff should work well I would have thought, I don't know if a pattern would need adjusting for the different stretch characteristics?
  21. Yep, I have one in mine,.. done by the previous owner, it needs re-doing and hasn't been well executed or completely finished but it does 'fit' in general quite well. I'd be interested to see how the guy in Orgiva blends the footwell sides, the disco bits dont fit at all well there, possibly RRC original trims do but I don't have any for reference.
  22. underfloor is low temp if its water, just be aware that you'll need some kind of heat soak and blender for a woodburner fired system.
  23. Just on that re-inforcing topic, for a DIY install (and 90% of commercial come to that) I would always put decent weldmesh in,.... particularly if you are considering mixing yourself.
  24. Very happy with my 2 poster, only thing is it doesn't quite go high enough to get the other Range Rover under, a car or the trailer would though.
  25. just on that one I saw some on the MIG welding forum just a couple of days ago, older gear but might suit a DIY???
