Well in that case i kinda know what i'm on about At work there are various folders in diffrent departments, ranging from a rather tasty 3metre hydraulic jobbie that can manage 10mm plate (probably bigger too but 10mm is the thickest we have), to rather small 1 meter manual machines that can do 2-3mm steel max or upto around 5mm ali - I have tired to bend thicker stuff with these but due to not being able lower the folding edge enough it just tends to shear it Gone slightly OT their, if you want recommendations of which manufacturers are best IMHO then i'll have a look at work on monday (cant remember of the top of my head) Lewis

Oh, well my 87 90 that used to be a TD had the under wing type, as does a mates 89 90 TD, and so too does the one in the 200tdi transplant write-up by DSN/JST Although the one in Les Hensons write up has the rectangular bottle you mention (My 91 90 200tdi had this too) Odd Lewis

Alternatively you could use a washer bottle from a TD as these fit completely under the wing top, this appears to be what is fitted in the photo in your post. Otherwise you could use the bag with a pump in, as fitted to early CSW's on the rear door, this would fit almost anyway due to its small size HTH Lewis

How much? My hardtop with windows was 30quid from a fellow forumeer Edited to add something useful - why not buy a cheap roof rack for a hardtop from ebay and chop the back off to suit your truckcab

I try to avoid telling people, its not as exciting as most imagine (probably because they stopped making vehicles I'm interested in in 1998) and some people expect free stuff I dont suppose it matters really though

On the 90 i completely wirebrushed the chassis back to bare metal and then painted with 2 coats red oxide primer and I intended to use 1 coat black hammersh*te, however as it refuses to stick to red oxide it turned into more like 4 coats of hammersh*te. I am completely unimpressed by the results and would not recommend hammerite - it seems to be flaking away and taking the undercoat with it The red oxide (from screwfix) was fine though and may be better with another top coat I still have enough red oxide for a chassis and a large quanity of brushes i bought to do the job if you want them? Being local and all Lewis

I have the Gwyn Lewis/Llama 4x4 suspension that you mentioned and have been very impressed so far, for more feedback you could speak to robhybrid or Paul Humphreys on here. Or better yet Gwyn Lewis or David who runs Llama 4x4, they are both on this forum occaisionally As far as making your own goes then Simonr or Nige (HybridFromHell) are worth speaking too, as they have built thier own (along with others), if you search the forum you can probably find the topic about making Nige's Suspension, there is also a video which is worth watching Lewis

Not got a defender to hand, but this thing next to me has a black oval (i assume they are interchangable as black ones seem the latest fashion ) <90mm> that way ^ 47mm that way V HTH Lewis

They use P&P cages on the test vehicles at work, the bends are nice and well formed, and the welding seems good. Not seen a rolled one tho, yet Before using P&P there were some cars fitted with cages that carried the plate "Custom Cages" i have no more info on them or where abouts they are, but as the name implied they were custom, and looked top-drawer The flatpack cages at Sodbury were from Whitbread Offroad they seel on ebay a lot but the cages are not cds or mandrel bent You pays yer money . . . Ive got a new Truckcab cage for sale, originally built to suit an 88" chassis, unknown manufacturer but it is log booked and built to MSA spec (or so i was told when i bought it from GB Developments who advertise engines in the LR comics) Its just lying around unused as i have gone station wagon rather than truckcab on the 90. I have the chassis mounts too

Yep, thats the one my mate has in his workshop, gotta be nearly ten years old too and still going strong, chuck is getting a bit tired - starts to slip a bit, but thats still good after a hard life

The Crankshaft locking tool that i have used screwed into the bellhousing and locked the teeth on the flywheel ring gear, it did not rely on the engine being in the car or using a chassis rail etc. If possible use an impact gun to undo the bolt, breaker bar on the chassis and flick the starter is a recipe for a mild headache - my snap-on breaker bar twisted the rotating square drive out of the u-shaped bit on the breaker bar, and threw the rest of the bar in the air pretty damn quick Lewis
