  1. it may be possible to challenge the decisions by judicial review but the cost may be prohibitive unless everyone bands together and splits the cost. quite often, these decisions are not so much a push by the councils themselves but by the politicians (ie. the councilors). Anything that is politically motivated rather than by civic planning is often difficult to defeat.
  2. Anderzander on here is well versed on the lake lanes. Get yourself OS Landranger maps, 89, 90, 96 and 97. Check for restrictions before you go and please please please treat the lanes with respect because there's a lot of ill feeling towards greenlaning and we could end up losing a lot of the best lanes soon.
  3. I really want to do this, as with everything in life learning how to do things properly saves time, expense and possibly even lives. I'm well aware of my shortcomings and could benefit from some good training. have you got a link or some details?
  4. Cracking stuff mate, shame we didn't get a chance to go out on the lanes when I was up.

  8. I'm developing something of a v8 fetish. Feel like I'm being unfaithful to my 200Tdi!!
  9. I don't think a bit of gentlemanly discussion can hurt. After all, debate is the creative tool of mankind.
  10. how amazing is it going to be when its finished 'though, Nige!
  11. 110 Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. *flashes headlights* look at me everybody! I'm here!!
  12. ha ha I'm so paranoid that quite often I will switch off my iPhone's location services when driving. Not because I break the law but because I don't want people to know where I have been or where I am going. I like to remain as anonymous as possible!
  13. When I first started to get involved with Land Rovers (well, a Land Rover, but you know what I mean) I visited loads of forums looking for the right one for me. I naturally started with those that were affiliated with magazines (LRO and LRM) because the names were familiar to me. Then I came across a few of the other more widely recognised forums and had a look at them instead before finally coming across this site. I found the layout, the ease and availability of info/tech and the depth of knowledge to be very much to my liking so I settled in here and don't really use any other site but on the occasions I have visited them I've found most other forums (with the exception of a few) to be a bit frustrating to use, occasionally offensive and in some cases, simply useless. Fortunately I've not been affected by the change to LRM/LRA but I can see why it has caused such frustration. It seems to me that there is an assumption that people are constantly active on a forum and couldn't possibly miss a post regarding future changes to the site. We saw a similar issue on here not too long ago. However, quite often people change their email address and do not update their details on forums so miss out on emailed notifications. I should imagine that emailing tens of thousands of members would be a bit of a nightmare anyway so really there's no option but to post a notification and hope that everyone sees it in time to make arrangements before the change.
  14. I like it in Italy where everyone thinks they are in a motor race. At least you know what to expect of your fellow drivers and the traffic flows a lot quicker ha ha
  15. people not indicating at roundabouts is one thing. people thinking they should indicate RIGHT when they are in fact going straight over really pi$$es me off.
  16. I was always under the impression that cool fuel, whether diesel or petrol, is always more efficient than warm as it is denser and therefore, of higher concentration. Am I wrong?
  17. Corruption is equally prevalent in s. America as it is in Africa. Southern Africa is much better than Central and West.
