  1. Why not have a pot for each wheel - hours of fun!
  2. Bet you can still drive faster than Will though
  3. You probably don't want to see this page then
  4. Just found this today and though people might find it useful: http://www.legris.com/Legris/en_EN/home2.n...uid/GuidePageBM Now all I've got to do is read it all
  5. No problem, you might want to link to Dan's too: http://www.getmuddy.co.uk/
  6. Hmmm, think you have to get pretty rich before a V8 will stall. The problem is that tuning the cold start is a PITA 'cos you've got to get the engine COLD to do it, and as soon as it warms up you've lost your chance. I never did mine properly, just stuck with the values from Phil Ringwood's setup which was a supercharged 3.5. It worked OK but I suspect it was on the rich side of things. The coolant temp override isn't a bad idea though, all it takes is a SPDT switch and a resistor:
  7. Those fans sound rather handy, anyone know if there is a UK equivalent?
  8. Why not just set the cold start enrichment right in the first place, or set it on the lean side if you still have a problem? The only time I've heard this cause a problem was a new install who drove into an iced-over pond to try it out so perhaps he just hadn't set the warmup enrichments quite right?
  9. Didn't the MOD consider the "high tech" champ to be more of a fault liablity? Oh if only they knew...
  10. Looks like the sort of info that'd be best found via google / GPS forums (assuming they exist). "How to solar power your GPS" is hardly a hack - "buy a solar panel"
  11. Well that's easy, Sodbury is next Saturday, bring a full wallet and a big trolley
  12. I don't know anyone who's broken a salisbury, and I know Guy: People refer to the Camel Trophy as the "running in" period for Guy's truck
  13. On dad's RR he's done the (very) budget version: 1) Snorkel - £20 of B&Q drainpipe and some silicone/gaffa tape 2) Ice-cream tub strapped over the coil with bungee 3) Ice-cream tub strapped over the dizzy with bungee OK it still coughs in deep water but it's surprisingly resilient. Will get some piccies of engine bay if I can find 'em, failing that I'll take some Went through this LOTS of times just to make sure Oh and:
  14. Have a looky here: http://www.juracid.co.uk/lr/index.php?do=a..._fans_SLRC.html should help you a bit. Don't buy a Kenlowe stat, they're shi... not very good with water
  15. CalVIN should tell you all you need to know. Early 109's would've been 2.25 petrol or diesel or 2.6 6-cylinder petrol (sounds like a V8, drinks fuel like a V8, just doesn't go like one) As Trev said, the DVLA have some strange descriptions for Land Rovers as they fall between car and commercial vehicle - technically anything with more than 8 or 9 seats is a bus, so you may find you're allowed to drive in bus lanes and dodge the london congestion charge... but don't blame me if it doesn't work!
  16. Silly me I've been driving according to the old and outdated one... thanks for finding that!
  17. Woke up, nipped round the corner to collect some bits of metal, went on a (needlessly long) search for grinding & cutting discs (silly me thought Halfords or B&Q superstores might have some!), picked up some nuts and bolts from my folks house, went home for elevenses, back out to workshop, scratched head for a bit, took all the old bushes out of my springs, did a LOT of grinding, came home, got called out to Swandean, went, got back, posted this
  18. Looks neat Rogue. Is the laptop screen supported? If not the hinges will take a battering, and they don't like that
  19. Surely rather than using a battery (which IMHO is a nasty electrical hack any day of the week) you could use diodes (which normally drop 0.6v across them) to the same effect? You can either put more diodes in series to get .6v steps, or be sexercisey and buy a Zener of the right rating. I drawed a piccyture: And realised that whioever designed the battery-based circuit could've just shoved a diode/diodes into the + side of the sensor feeds rather than that lash-up of a circuit. I bet he uses Bodgelok connectors
  20. I thought they were just EMI/RFI sheilded for FFR vehicles, with the upshot that they were a bit more waterproof? I know they're silly money and the spares are too, and they'll probably be points not electronic.
  21. Didn't think they had any real plans about that yet? Last real land rover they built was the Stage 1 V8 Coat on...
  22. IMHO wires inside the chassis are a stoopid idea, you can't see 'em and if they rub through and short (which they will, because you can't clip them in place inside a chassis rail) it's a PITA to find. Can you tell I had a bad experience?
  23. Oh how much would I like to see Vicky at the traffic lights in the Freelander when a load of chavs in a Nova pull up looking for a bit of a race
  24. A meet at the local smart dealership could be fun anyway - "Excuse me Sir, you're parked on one of our cars"
