  1. I live in Scotland it is always wet here so nobody is going to notice any difference Seriously I am going to fit the door and the quater and see what it looks like.
  2. It does sound fancy I agree, I am just desperate to know what it is other than a new toy to play with.
  3. The panels are going to require painting then. thanks guys
  4. What is the difference between Java black and Santorini Black. All the Range Rovers and Sports I have and have had have been Java black but I have just bought an HST Sport with the back quater caved in and some damage to the rear door and have Java black panels to put on it. Does it mean I am going to notice a huge diference in the colour?
  5. I have just bought another Range Rover Sport (now have 4 of them) and obtained the build sheet from my local dealer. I haven't seen the car in the metal yet (it is a salvave vehicle with the left rear quater caved in) but according to the build sheet is has a Remote Ctrl Height Adj Tow Hitch. The car is a 2008 (2009 model) HST TDV8. Can someone decifer what this is. I am hoping it is the electrically deployable towbar but think it might be a little early for that. Am collecting it on Tuesday and driving it home 400 miles. Really looking forward to my day of self indulgence.
  6. Nick Welcome to the forum. My guess would be water/dampness in the BeCM.
  7. I don't think the banks will allow that anymore because of money laundering. I know for sure my banks don't allow it.
  8. And don't do as I did, try forcing them together. You will wreak both the gearbox and the torque converter. Putting the torque converter is relatively easy, keeping it in place not so easy. I drilled a couple of small holes in the bellhousing and tie it in place with some wire. Once the engine is bolted on cut the wire pull it out and fill the holes with silicone or a self tapping screw.
  9. Exactly the same with the V8's to get more room I usually lift the block with the gearbox attached off the engine mounts, remove the engine mounts and let the engine and box rest down on the chassis. Removing the engine mounts greatly improves the access to the bellhousing bolts at the top of the engine.. Shouldn't be any different on the deisels.
  10. Blanco On my 4.6 I have the engine and gearbox out individually.I couldn't see how it was practical in a home workshop environment, or in my case in the paddock, how the two could be moved together.
  11. I bought the Icarsoft in March for all my Land Rover's and it works to a point but ill not work on anything other than Land Rovers and Jaguars. I have issues with my P38 and need to get something a little more capable to get the ECU talking to the BeCM I think I will use that as an excuse to get the Nanocom for the P38 so I can add to it later for my other cars.
  12. Filip I have a Discovery 2 that needs the chassis welded and some other minor bits for the MOT I have a Discovery 3 that I need finish replacing the starter motor on I have a Range Rover L322 that needs the Gearbox and Torque convertor replaced, some paitwork, plug a leak in the Air con and fix a couple of electrical gremlins. I have a P38 that I need to get the ECU talking to the BeCM. And a Sport that needs the Speedo repaired. That doesn't include the CSK which I still need a donor car for. If you have spare time you will always be welcome here.
  13. Filip I have been playimg with Range Rover Sports recently and they have worse electronic gremlins than the P39's My last and my currect Sports both TDV8's will shut down the vehicles computer without warning. It will keep the engine running if you are driving butmy current one will spend periods where it is difficult to start. At worst it took an hour and a half. Tried disconnecting battery and removing the instrument cluster (the scouce of the problem) for the car to ignore me and just leave me waiting. I still wouldn't remove the electronics from the Sport's it is what makes it a gret car to drive. The TDV8 is a great setup but really desparate to try a 5l supercharged. Keep the electronics (and I have a P38 sitting outside my house with communication problems and it has been there for a year lol)
  14. And then some people chopped a huge section out of the rear end and called the Bob tails.
  15. Ivan The more of the electronics you try and remove the less of a Range Rover you will have. The P38 was never built without air suspension and you can allways tell on the road the cars that have had it removed as they sit much higher. The Air suspension is not that complex a system and the car is worse for not having it. I am not electronically motivated and I have managed to get to grips with 2006,7,8 cars with more complex systems. Has taken me a lot of time and effort but has been very much worth it.
  16. I meant to add that while I was repairing the front end on my current sport and replacing the front body cross member at the time it looked very likely that the engine and turbos could be removed from the front with the front end stripped down. When it comes to removing the engine to sell it I will experiment and see if that is an option as taking the headlights, the grille, slam panel and the two cross members off is much easier than taking the body shell off even if some minor welding is required to refit. Will keep you posted.
  17. Filip I blew the turbo on one of mine and currently breaking it as there is too much to do that needs the body off. I.E. need to do the Ace roll bars and the turbos and the car jist isn't worth it. Anyway my car seized up and I was talking to a trader from Wales and he advised me to take the oil cap off and rock the engine back and forth on the crank shaft until it turns and then try to start it. Sure enough it fired and ran. He did tell me what you have done is possible without taking the body off but he quoted 10 hours. ANyway the point of my ranbling on is that he stated the TDV8 is fairly bullet proof and has had many in with seized engines which then turned out to be blown turbo's. On that basis I am assured that the engine on yours will be fine. Mine is.
  18. I would agree with Steve. It is now in the past as far as the bank is concerned you left having accepted that you were £100 short.
  19. Surely this was seized because of no "Assurance"
  20. Discovery 2 Kerb weight os 2061 to 2220kg Discovery 3 Keb Weight 2394kg
  21. I had the same issue on my D2 many years ago and I wansn't fortunate enough to be 9 miles from home more like 99 miles. Mine was the sensor and caused the airbag to over inflate at the side of the M6 at Carlilse.
  22. There is a breaker in Wales with 160 P38's I am sure he will have steel wheels. Name is Mark Skitt.
  23. I am in the process of doing as car at the mpoment. I bought a plate and put it temporarily on a car, just so I had the plate. When I applied for the logbook the chassis number on the dash didn't match the chassis number of the car and after a lot of back and forth finally got the logbook. Put the plate on, blew the turbo and then went to remove the plate and they would not allow an on line removal they have called for an inspection. The car can be taxed or sorned and only need insurance if the plate is being transferred on to another vehicle directly. If it hasn't been on the road for 5 years the car needs to be MOT'd
