  1. I used the inner part of an old speedo cable, and the same as others have said, from one hole to the next.
  2. Not sure if this affects Defender's like it does Disovery's but has oil ingressed down the loom to the ECU, remove the plugs from it to see. Have the injector codes been correctly programmed ? Steve
  3. No, they are different, well mine was, because the rear bumper is deeper apart from anything else, and yes there is a LR kit that plugs in to the connector behind the o/s rear lamp. I used STC50081, not cheap, but this is only the N type socket for the lights, doesn't include the S type socket for caravan towing. Steve
  4. Its one eighth or close to 10swg (.128")
  5. Try here http://www.lrdirect.com/MTC6007-Fan-Label/?sfi=MTC6007 Steve
  6. That looks like coolant leaking from the core plug in between the flanges.
  7. Yes my Defender manual, a '93 Land Rover one, says 3.6 - 4.5kgs or 8 -10lbs in old money. So at 14lbs your 50% too tight at the lower pre-load. Steve
  8. Your probably aware but just a thought, you will have continuity through one strand of wire, but it won't have much current carrying capacity. Could it be a wire chaffed partly through or corroded ? Steve
  9. Whats the number under the barcode ? Steve
  10. Mines a std 1995 300tdi, and has no body on at the mo. From the face of the rear dif flange to the face of the trans brake drum is 698mm. Steve
  11. Think its this one, original number was ESR3118, superceded by WJP000220, LR Direct have them listed. Steve
  12. The adjuster is fitted in the top of the sector shaft and does not screw out of the top plate separately, you have to remove the top plate bolts, remove locknut and screw the adjuster in whilst gently priseing the top plate off. Steve
  13. I bought one of these http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cfc100-1-tonne-folding-workshop-crane a couple of months ago and just used it on my 300tdi. No problems at all. Steve
  14. 160 - 200 Nm (118lb ft - 147lb ft) should be fine.
  15. The adjustable bracket on the hi - lo selector rod looks like it's been 'repaired' with a bolt, anyway I think it's FRC8075 and the plastic bushes are FRC4499 Steve
  16. There is a 'Fog Lamp ECU' behind the instrument panel on an '02 model, between the steering column bracket and demist vent. Prob the same as yours. Steve
  17. Dont forget on pre TD5 models the fuel tank is on the drivers side as well
  18. Yes they did, but just make sure its the five speed variety, as a four speed gearbox was the norm. The TR8 also used a heavy duty version.
  19. Dual mass flywheels were designed for diesel engined vehicles to smooth out engine vibrations and prevent them from being transmitted to the gearbox, supposedly making for a better gearchange, especially 1st to 2nd, and protecting the transmission. A good idea but not cheap ! Steve
  20. These should be the ones MTC6006 & MTC6007 Steve
  21. I used to have an Escort that did that but it was just a bad earth
  22. incidently i have two friends that are mechanics at a landrover garage and no one there knew the proper way either, so its good to know this community is better prepared and more useful than and official garage lol thanks everyone Steve
