  1. with all the other stuff in the house that could have spent the night in the airing cupboard. Dry AND heated in the morning
  2. Sorry Stephen both those programmes have some intellectual content. More suitable programmes could be "deal or no deal" "15 to 1" "Big brother" "Celebrity big brother" "I'm a celebrity...." "Love island" (now so C list it cannot have celebrity in the title ) any one of the million shopping and games channels on freeview and sky BTW. Richard Hammond was on Jonathon Ross the other week, hilarious 20 mins
  3. Possibly a stupid suggestion but it has caught me out on autos in the past. Is there a switch/sensor that only allows the engine to be started if the gearbox is in park? Which leads to the questions Is it in park? Is the switch/sensor duff?
  4. I'm not a violent man, but in Mr Rose's case I could make an exception. Sorry officer, with mud suddenly on my windscreen I couldn't see the little £$%^&* and accidentally run him over 3 or 4 times.
  5. Two out of three, your pick I was told (very unreliable source, my dad ) that the month was now 14 days. Looked here, which although interesting didn't show what I wanted. I always try to go early so I can fix it and drive on the old cert if necessary. Which brings a new question, with the computerised system does a fail invalidate your current certificate as the police will now check computer records only??
  6. The back of the old certs clearly state that if you submit for an MOT less than 1 month from expiry of the old the cert can be forward dated to the previous expiry date. This wording does not appear on the new certs. First time I've had to renew on a "new" style so what happens?
  7. Depends if you are taking them as you WILL need them or in CASE you need them. These seem way too cheap to stand offroading abuse but are a well known make and will get you up the hill Sorry they are on ebay # Now, on a 4x4 if you only have one set you fit them on the back, right?
  8. That would be the sort of scrapyard you can get a "new" cat for £150 from then!
  9. That "education, education, education" didn't work, work, work
  10. It was pretty busy. While I parked up got passed by 2 XD's Out of the car 2mins, passed by 6 APC's with an XD at head of convoy Around the hour long walk 2 "fighter" jets circling 1 "civilian" jet circling 3 or 4 Helicopters One of those big 4 axle drop carriers another 4 XD's The Range Warden ( I was hoping he would take the flags down! ) and lots of big booms offf to the northwest. I've seen it busier, but not bad for an hour!
  11. The first time in a year I've been up. Was baby sitting our nine month old daughter and thought it was time she was introduced to off roading. So went up to walk the dogs for an hour and then drive Marlboruogh Road and the lane out towards the ranges (the one by the river that always floods nicely but has a good solid gravel base) but the red flags were flying and I couldn't go further west as nap time was approaching. Well at least the CAT1's and the lanes in and out of Shipton Bellinger did not phase her so future trips should have a thumbs up
  12. Yeah, it is now called "Council Tax" and is much higher and rising way faster than inflation* *inflation is a statistic and therefore can be made to show whatever you want, usually that it is a lot lower than the cost of living is actually rising!
  13. Ebay make reporting a scam so difficult, otherwise they would be inundated with complaints. Your time is better spent filling the false login page with loads of Bart Simpson crank call names or simple verbal abuse.
  14. Paint them orange and claim they are "roof sliders", the latest thing in offroading
  15. This article? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.j...11/mrmike11.xml
  16. Does the opposite apply to Australians living in another country? London is going to be a bit short on barstaff!
  17. You're only a real tightwad when you start cutting them off lamposts (the remnants of all the tatty signs you see) I've not done it yet, but there must be twenty on one lampost in the village ...........and I would be doing a service to the community (not to be confused with "community service")
  18. Did it smell slightly perfumed? If so it was probably handcream/moisturiser and (reasonably) water soluble.
  19. Have you adjusted the "snail" cams? Could be the springs are pulling the pads right in and it takes a pump to get them out again.
  20. Memory Lane looks great. Do you have an OS grid reference
  21. I sold my commuter Volvo a few weeks back. One of the guys who came round was a "part time" trader. One of his mates had been to a car auction and when they came to leave the car wouldn't start. Turned out someone had swiped part of the ECU
  22. We haven't had a "Seriously Soggy Sodbury" for a while O.K. so it pi##ed it down at the last one but most people were leaving by then anyway
  23. I've not read the book but wouldn't the "altering a chassis" rule be better aimed at changing the wheelbase rather than chopping the overhang off?
  24. I sold my sensible commuter car last week so have been using the Land Rovers to get to and from work. I never used to look out the window at the Volvo but now I cannot help but find myself taking a quick admiring peep at the 110 in the carpark. I brought the 90 in today and it looks like a tonka toy out the window
