  1. Clearly. It is the wrong forum to ask though; You knew we would all say yes. Do your man-maths and buy it, then start a build thread here. Daan
  2. If the colour is right, it is easy, apart from the VIN in the screen, as mentioned. I don't know how the number is mounted, and you probably get an unfavourable reply from the friendly windscreen man to assist. I would personally just swap the engine. Can the engine come out of the bottom without taking the body off?
  3. The stage 1 has CV's, but you can use them.
  4. Hi, thanks for this. When you say end to end, does this mean hole centre to hole centre? Daan
  5. Yes, they are. Daan
  6. It is 50 kg for an 8274, about half that for a low mount.
  7. Some good info on shocks and shock lengths here: http://www.heystee-automotive.com/parts/springs/shocktab.htm
  8. Sold for £6100. Looks like I bought mine at the right time.
  9. Ok, I was under the impression they were the same. In that case, you are probably ok. Daan
  10. Chaps, mr rattler is going to try, and make up his mind on what he thinks. We are comparing a zeus conversion with a heystee conversion and a rangerover setup, and think that is good comparison? Do we know how the caliper piston diameters compare? It could well be that the zeus conversion is using larger pistons and therefore is ok without a booster. So let's see how it pans out. I am more worried about the use of the same brakes at the rear as the front; This will result in too much brake bias to the rear, resulting in unplanned handbrake u-turns. I would investigate a brake pressure valve in the rear brakeline for this reason. Daan
  11. If Mr bean was a builder... Are you going to keep it standard or is there a cunning plan? here some ideas for a decent engine: https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/211498/reliant-kitten-estate-blackbird-powered?page=10 Daan
  12. It is ebay for me these days. The last time I tried to get something from my local supplier it was no cheaper and I really struggle with picking it up during office hours. Also, it is always someone in the north yorkshire who has what you want for some reason. Main thing to look out for is postage; you need to make sure what you pay is reasonable, and that is where the suppliers differ. Some has a fixed fee, which is bad for small amounts, but others have a sliding scale which is bad for large amounts.
  13. Sliding windows are the proper Land rover fitment, and the future in hot climates.
  14. Sold for £980. I wonder how long it takes before it is relisted this time around. What is wrong with people buying stuff on ebay?
  15. Sold for £5800, now relisted due to time waster: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274683950480?ul_noapp=true
  16. Anyway, do we all agree an intercooler is a good idea, because this has been a point of conversation in the past?
  17. I shipped the landy in a 20ft container to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003 to compete in the Rainforest challenge. I got a carnet through my local chambers of commerce. Make sure the car is well strapped down. Also make sure you have marine insurance, as containers do go overboard in heavy wheather, and otherwise all you get is an apology of the captain (if you are lucky!), but nothing else. It took 3 weeks for the ship to get there. Our ship ran late, decided to miss KL completely, and drop of our container in Singapore. P&O, who sponsored the RFC did bend over backwards to help get our car, we had to wait 12 hours at the docks for customs clearance and then drive 300 mile foot to the floor to KL to make sure we made the start line. Price was £1800 to get there, £1200 to get back. Looking back, the stress it gave me and all the agro, money and risks, the words Never again spring to my mind. I would be more leaning towards buying a car and sell it once you are done. Daan
  18. This one sold a few weeks ago for about £800, but someone had 2nd thoughts by the looks of it. I suppose a dead engine and no V5 or keys would put me off too. And someone heavy sat on the back body: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mahindra-jeep-CJ340-willys-jeep-under-license/265044272581?hash=item3db5dea5c5:g:FKYAAOSwMaBgICkZ Daan
  19. This started cheap: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274666864286?ul_noapp=true Daan
  20. I think the tubes are a standard size. The bush is these dimensions: https://www.dingocroft.co.uk/acatalog/Spring-Bush-for-2-5--wide-Springs-548205.html#SID=160 so 30,2mm, I think you can get 35 x 2.5, which gives you 30 Id, with a bit of compression. Daan
  21. The TGV has 135 hp vs 111hp for a 2.5 TDI, that is +22% in power. As the engine produces as much energy in heat as it does in making the wheels turn, you need +22% in cooling as well. I am personally not a fan of front mounted radiators, especially when used in mud, as you need overcapacity of the cooling system when it starts clogging up. The viscous fan can also be faulty, so check that and the cowling is important too.
  22. Hope you wave at me? Anyway, if the car had disc brakes, the hub is contained by the caliper, so almost impossible to come off, unless the wheel nuts came undone. Or is it the incident that caused this thread?:
