Ive bought from R and C before got a cacky alternator with bound up bearings, spoke to Carl and he sent a replacement straight away , although to be fair to the original post here by Maverik it wasn't advertised as a genuine part , even so he seems a decent fella and is happy to help

I had the same on mine , turned out to be the rear crank seal , but on a brighter note I followed the info on this forum , fitted bolts to the bottom of the bell housing etc and now its all tickety boo
Did your new alternator come in a blue box , its not inconceivable that it could be knackered , although not a problem like yours mine was shot bearings & exchanged no probs HTH
