  1. I think the best option would be to Fab your own front ones from scratch. I have a set of rears. I took them off as it was causing propshaft problems with me having an LT77. I may well pit them back on with centre limiting in place but that's a long way down my job list.
  2. That one is very good. Well, for what it is meant for anyway. It's a promotional tool and draws interest at shows and keeps people talking about them. Off road? Bloody useless of course! The above abomination, I wonder what he plans to build to replace it? He's 'done' bogger. Rock Crawler next perhaps or maybe six wheeler? Now that I would love to see, but from a very safe distance of course!
  3. Is this for the 1970 hybrid pictured in your avatar? If so might they be looking for the number of the V8 Range Rover not the Series?
  4. No reason to go forward on a 109" it's prop length on 88" back axle that people do that for. I have SII front with centre lights and moved forward. It doesn't have to look like a coiler just because if has the engine and box from one or, in my case, three. Disco engine, defender box and Range Rover transfer.
  5. Best bet is to drop it in and weld it up where it fits best. fairly straightforward on a 109"
  6. I guess the volumes and different tooling would be an issue, but, I would love to see a Series version. Call it a Series Defender, well so many of them have quite a few Defender bits bolted on nowadays anyway!
  7. Have you considered swapping the hubs side for side. The arms would just bolt on facing the other way so end up the same, your angles would stay the same as set by the swivel ball and you would get the benefit of moving the calipers well away from the dampers. So long as the balljoints clear the calipers that is.
  8. Good call Bowie. Filler pipe gives it away, it's on the drivers side (RHD) so this is being viewed from the flywheel end. It will probably be easiest to get a manifold and Carb complete and just bolt the lot on in one go.
  9. Looks like an SU of some type on a 2.0 The wiring looks "fun".
  10. I was offered a vehicle a few weeks back which had the worst attempt at a coil conversion I have ever seen. Anyway sat in it is a 3.5 v8, series box and the all important conversion parts between the two. These appear to predate the butchery. I'll get some more info if you like.
  11. I have a v8 axle on mine with AEU2322 CVS and 24 23 spline halfshafts. Its nice! Coiler axle diff is further to one side as well as wider. Different bolt pattern and castor angles. Just fit a regular axle and it will be fine.
  12. I'll take some more pictures when I get home next week. squeeze is right though having not touched the chassis or bulkhead at all. Nothing complicated really just a case of trading gains in some areas against losses in another. I did use an intercooler from a 2.8 Pajero, I just had one and it fitted nicely. There must be pictures somewhere in this thread...
  13. Good stuff and just up the road for me.
  14. I went over to the lake district in it last week. Loaded up with camping gear, food and firewood. Did some lanes whilst there of course. I really love the crawler like low first I now have and the extra clearance from tucking everything up higher so that nothing, not even the exhaust, dangles below the chassis level. No worries on the rocks of Grizedale any more. The only problem I had was a blown fuse, my fault I had put too small a one in. Swapping the TrueTrac for an open diff did sort the steering. I suppose I ought to give it a lick of paint now I know it all works. Oh and the tent is a 1974 army surplus for a £5 with home made poles, Bargain!
  15. They are good. Just down the road from me in Darlington.
  16. Mostly done in series with gearbox swap due to perception of front axle issues. Probably as likely to find someone here who's done it as defender or range rover or disco for that matter. I've considered it for mine. This permanent 4x4 thing just isn't as much fun on roundabouts!
  17. Don't forget that the gap might not be big enough to slide 2.0mm in never mind fold it.
  18. http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/E._N._V._Engineering_Co It seems the name pre-dates the Eaton era 1962 to closure in 1966.
  19. Are the shoes centred or has one ridden up or down the slots in the cylinders? Are they being pulled fully back on to the snail cam by the springs? Is there air causing them to creep outwards and grip the drum as you are fitting them? Did they come in a blue box??
  20. Military front spring shackle as fitted to my Landy on Monday. Not very clear but they are stepped in at the spring end.
  21. Seems far too straight to butcher. Sell it and get a rough 90 to play with.
