  1. g&t, where are you? I have a cowl somewhere, you are welcome to it, just need to dig it out..... if you're local I will
  2. Check the number of splines in the diff match yours (just pull a halfshaft if it's still in the truck) and yes it should just be a bolt in job.
  3. Look like it to me....
  4. Welding looks good, the mounts look like 5mm, not as thick as 6, but they do look identical to the Terrafirma ones, even down to the positioning of the crease in the backplate....
  5. I *think* the RRC bog brush auto box cooler has the same fittings, could be an easy way to fit one up front...
  6. Agreed, I saved over £250 by getting my LT230 rebuilt locally rather than exchanging it at Ashcrofts, and no problems or leaks to speak of, and as quiet as the Borg Warner box I pulled out. I am rural so the number of land rovers they have had through there is the hundreds... the guy offered me a kit, spoke me through the rebuild and then I decided to hand it over for them to do instead, partly due to time, partly hassle They were also only 5 mins down the road, which means I get a warm glow from supporting a local business, *AND* save money in the process. Don't get me wrong, I am sure Ashcroft do a fantastic job, but if I can use local firms I will always try to, assuming the quality is up to snuff
  7. I keep hearing rumours that towing with a rope on the road except for emergencies is illegal, does anyone know for sure on this?
  8. Yeah, it sizzles like bacon in a pan
  9. Bish was always quite pleased with his, for the money of course I've used it too, and was fine once I taught him how to tension the belts
  10. That wasn't to start the same old same old argument again, it was a genuine enquiry...
  11. Here's a good tutorial: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=763645 Seriously, G, on page #3 of *your* link there's a nicer way to lock it up, just weld up a couple of teeth on the gears and rebolt them back in. No alignment issues, no distortion to speak of...
  12. I wonder if they make the rear shock mounts for Terrafirma, they look identical!
  13. I do understand where you are coming from, it is a little disheartening when stuff keeps going wrong(!) ~£2K for a recon one, not including turbo or ancillaries... I'd struggle to justify that TBH.
  14. As you've already done the hard work of putting a Disco engine in a 90, why not just get another crusty Disco for £300, pull the engine and drop it in. Weighing the rest of the disco in will make most of your money back = free engine. Oh, and just buy an engine hoist, and sell it on when finished with it, then you have no pressure of time, picking it up etc. I am sure someone on here would be happy to take it off your hands
  15. That's correct Nige, it says oil seal but is actually just a washer that sits under the cross-bolting bolts 'SEAL 19MM OD, PETROL V8 L/R EFI' #5 on Ralph's screenshot.
  16. Ditto to FF, I just went with stock 3.9 manifolds, no cracking them!
  17. Some Terrafirma remote reservoir shocks and a regassing kit, than you can adjust then for each type of event
  18. It's still probably not too difficult, have a look on that lexus forum, there's a gold mine in there.... http://www.lextreme.com/forums/ Read up a bit, it's apparently 5 wires to get it running, but to do the job properly it's 4 relays, so hardly rocket science
  19. Cheers Nige, and Aragorn, you just saved me a few quid, Interparcel came up with some very good prices! Cheers
  20. Rhys, There's a guy over on LRO forum who stuck one of these in a RRC, apparently using the stock ECU it was just a couple of wires to get it going.... I personally wouldn't bother with MS for this, as it's a stock engine. In fact, here's the link: http://www.lro.com/f...der=asc&start=0 If you hate wiring, then you won't like doing a MS install *edit* Lotsa stuff here: http://www.lextreme.com/misc.html
  21. Excellent, I'll go with 30Kg for booking the pickup then Many thanks both!
  22. My God Nige, you can be a numpty sometimes you know Wilfred (Nige's butler) : 'More power sir? But why sir?' Nige (pipesmoking toff): 'Because I can Wilfred.' Seriously, why did you feel the need to upgrade from 280BHP in a 90, on slithery tyres and squidgy suspension? Oh, and I am rather jealous you know
  23. Need to transport a diff via a courier, anyone any idea what they weigh? It has an ARB in it, in case that makes a diff(erence!) Cheers, Pete. P.s. Yes, I did try the search....
  24. I think in the case of the TDS/EP9 winches of this world the freespool is engaged (or disengaged if you look from a mech POV) by lifting the freespool lever, the rotational movement is not required, in which case it could be simplified by making a bracket above the lever which fixes to the cap head bolt in the middle of the freespool lever allowing you to engage just by pulling on a cable. The lever would still be able to be operated by hand from outside the vehicle, with some careful bracket fab, and the spring in the freespool lever would return it to 'locked' position once you release the cable. Now, I could be wrong in all of this, in which case shoot me I don't think so, because that's how the air freespools work that Bowyer sells (I think!)
