  1. Good point - would the engine run with a blocked exhaust?
  2. Good old traditional clutch eh The DMF on my TD5 is rubbish, very snatchy if you ask me though that could I suppose be the clutch! My fathers transit had a DMF, and had it replaced each year under warranty due to shuddering and noise in reverse and on rundown (regularly loaded to 3.5ton MWB MR) then Ford finally admitted defeat and brought out an official 'coversion' kit to convert it back to a normal flywheel/clutch configuration! Has lasted years now Thanks for the animation by the way, now I know how it really works!
  3. As has been said with careful use of the clutch you could probably do it. I often pull away in 2nd where conditions allow to avoid the quick change, especially at bad junctions though I've no doubt this doesn't do the clutch any favours. Most recent diesels have anti-stall anyway, well more like anti idle where the ecu or body computer aims for a set idle speed and adjusts fuelling accordingly.
  4. Not that this will be much help but my 04 90 also pulls to the left under heavy braking and I put this down to suspension setup and camber. My parents transit van and freelander, as well as my friends 06 L200 also do the same, but not as severe as the 90 does it. I just put it down to suspension, different dampening rates etc. Obviously if you have a camber to the left, more weight should in effect push toward the front left making it 'dive' that way and pull - though I can't say I've ever only noticed the front left wheel locking up and this could be a separate problem. We ruled out tyres as the L200 has the equivalent size BF AT tyres (width and circumference) just on 17" wheels
  5. Here's mine: Two 110ah 600cca dual purpose batteries and an X-Charge...
  6. Surely you didn't pay someone £200 just to do your tracking?
  7. I think there was one advertised in this months LRO magazine
  8. I believe ROW stands for 'Rest of the World' and I believe one thing is the lack of an EGR valve... other than that I'm unsure
  9. TD5 Air Con Condenser fan... if you can find one cheaply!
  10. Apparently it's not that hard to do - or so I've read! But yes definitely change the copper washers at the same time! You'll only regret it later and they are cheap so it's worth it! On the subject of these seals and washers, do you think this could be causing the problem I have where my TD5 misfires if you rev her to just over 1000rpm when the engine is cold just after starting and puffs blue heavy diesel smelling smoke out? After 20secs or so she runs fine?
  11. Cols110 and Retroanaconda... How did that happen
  12. Could be the switch - did you get anything wet? A short could have blown a fuse!
  13. Thanks for your reply - I need to do something, might have to wait til next summer now though with all this weather Take care, Oz
  14. Excuse my lack of understanding... but what does Dinitrol dry like? I'm looking to do something to my 04 as the landrover gunk is starting to peel. I hate waxoyl because every time you go under the vehicle you end up getting covered in it! Is it very similar to waxoyl?
  15. Good to see Land Rovers working hard in times of need - this shouldn't be done at home... but it just goes to show how strong and versatile these machines can be! Well done for getting it all under cover though
  16. Type it in on google: 4 Kgf/cm2 to PSI and it'll tell you! You're right though, those figures are either the wrong way around or way out
  17. I've seen quite a few XS Utilitys around on the internet - there's a county at James French at the moment! Link Here Plus there are the tax and business incentives - so if I were to order one it would be with the util pack (no chance of that though )
  18. Sounds like you do need a Land Rover... I would probably say go for a pre registered one (as they tend to sell cheaper) or ex-demo - finding the right one might be hard but you never know! Nearly new might be the way to go - though theres just something about picking up a brand new beast
  19. If you're after the real deal then buy a Maxx Raxx... I have one and it's fab. It is a little more expensive than the others, but the quality is there and I know people who've had them for years without problems
  20. Definately Steve's idea... it's legal, out of the way and if you point it down it should throw all the fumes down before hitting the rear crossmember... it also looks neat!
  21. Look at marine places, they sell 300amp to 500amp voltage sensing split charge relays for around £200 if you want to pay the money... A solenoid will work however you'll get a voltage drop which will mean that the batteries never fully charge...
  22. Agreed, you could make up your own kit. I found a relay the same as the one in the kit for a tenner brand new, but buy the time you buy wiring, and the tools to crimp connections properly the x-charge kit works out just as cheap
