  9. I have always carried one of these on the truck, and in truth have never used it for anything more than changing a puncture on the truck while out and about. I am now reviewing what equipment I really need to carry and think the hi lift is old hat. I can fit a tidy bottle jack neatly into the truck which will work safely every time I need it. I know hi lift jacks can be used as winches, etc etc but having used it once in this application I think the idea is fine but the execution is rubbish. Just wondering how many challenge trucks are still using and carrying a hi lift?
  10. Or use a later rad (300) with both rad pipes on the left I found this worked well on mine.
  11. Is it legal to fiddle with wheel rims like thin in the Uk? In Ireland this practice is illegal with any welding to wheel rims needing an engineers certification and a retest of items under Doe? (mot). Insurance companies love to hear of this mod also as its open season on the pooor guy trying to insure the truck also.
  12. Thanks for your reply Andy The reason I was interested in this rope was the possibility of going for a smaller diameter with the same strenght thus allowing me to put more on the standard drum, and not having the modify the winch drum to take an acceptable amount of 11/12 mm cable. I agree about the cables not lasting forever and I have used most ropes on the market including Plasma, dyneema etc, all are good when new but with time and usage they deteriorate and break. Usually we tend to replace the rope after they break once as I have found once they start breaking then its usually the end and I have no confidence in the rope. K
  13. Have a look at this as well Here

  18. Came across this the other day and wondered if anyone else had used it? It seems the dynex dux is much stronger for a smaller diameter than the dynex sk75, this should equate to more cable on the drum? 11mm rope with a 40,000lb min breaking strain? Dynex
