do away with it altogether and fit a generator in the back, run it through an inverter to power the electrics, and run the genny off the diesel tank. can have a proper set of electrics in it then too.

not many vehicles can ram the back of a Landrover (especially if it's got a towbar) and still keep going - tends to make a mess of the radiator on most cars/vans these days - all the plastic shatters. sounds like a scary event, good job you had a vehicle equipped to go through the river, any normal car would have been trapped at that point - and god knows what would have happened to the driver in that case. as has been said - report it to the fuzz, if necessary tell them you had a child in the car and you were concerned for their safety?

possibly brushes have worn down. new brush pack should cure it. take it to an auto electrical specialist, should be able to rebuild it in less than a day, for much less than the cost of a new/recon one

Soooo, just to throw another idea into the mix If you had tyres fitted that were rated as lower than the maximum permissable speed of the vehicle, but also had a notice fixed to the dashboard/speedo notifying the driver of the fact, how would that work with plod?

sounds like one branch being fussy. none of the Unipart branches i know of turn retail away.

Any Unipart/Express Factors branch should be able to supply it, GUL2622 for a 2.5 litre bottle. Expect to pay about £12.

should be MTF94 spec for the R380. available from most factors these days.

The interior light on my 300 Disco is behaving weirdly. doesn't work at all off the drivers door, but off the passenger door, it strobes - flashes on and off in a weird way. any ideas?

don't see why not, both are lt230's AFAIK - and the TD5 uses the later R380's too.

Are they any different to standard? if so, where to get some? one of our customers looks after some of the military vehicles, and they need some new front shocks, standard ones are different on the bushes, and i cannot see anything on the 'cat - any ideas guys n gals???

what engine first? blown h/g can cause water in oil, but in a more severe case, so can a cracked head. as it's an unknown quantity until you strip it down, it may be worth budgeting for a pressure test on the head before you use it.

sounds about right for town driving. manual or auto? auto's generally give worse mpg.

it's not engine speed dependant variations, it's as you are going over "normal" unudulations at cruising speed, such as potholes and the remains of roadworks

last night i drove the ES in the dark for the first time, apart from one headlight bulb not working, as i was driving along the road, i could see the dash/headlights getting brighter and dimmer with the unulations in the road. any ideas? i'm still thinking of an earthing problem somewhere......

with my old 200 i used to do a rough 50/50 mix, 20 litres diesel to 18 litres of oil - this was during winter 07/08 - with no problems. not sure if i should/want to run any in the 300 or not....

asda veg oil is currently @ 97.6p/litre for the 3 litre bottles - so about a 4.3p/litre saving over diesel.

something to do with the amount of oil in the nose cone i suspect from the leaking rear crank seal (replaced while the box was off). was well fried - smelled the office out when i bought the old unit in all working fine now just a few other gremlins to find and blenderize

I see an evil plan forming from the Demon Headmaster, get everyone to scrap their old car, buy a new one, then hammer them with the new increased VED bands that are/aren't going ahead.....
