  9. hi, I'm up near Newcastle upon Tyne. I'm aware that many of you seem a little "south" of me, but does anyone know of any GLASS/CRAG activity in the north east? It's hardly worth me joining if I'm the only member north of York........ Jas
  10. Didn't some used to add a couple of litres of petrol to the diesel in these cases? until winter diesel was out as Dollythelw points out...... Jas

  15. I'd be suprised if there was a specific law against them. After all, you see plenty builders trucks with the roofrack legs extended infront to the bumbers etc...
  16. I think Les has hit the nail on the head there for me. i really pi55e5 me off to get taxed to death because of some vote finding mission based on unknown truthes. We know naff all about the environmental dammage caused by the UK in context with the rest of the developing world. So basically some knob in Korea can set of neuclear testing 30 years behind the rest of the world whilst here in the UK we get hammered for driving a car or heating a house. I think the UK is a great place to live, were at the top of the pile so to speak, but as far as the taxation and big brother attitude is developing I can see why so many choose to leave. If the taxation had clear benefits to ANYTHING then I guess I could bite the bullet a bit easier, but the truth is a lot of people are now starting to see the "green" issue as a massive income generation platform. rant over. Jas
  17. my view only....I would completely ignore it and thoroughly waxoyle the whole thing. IIR the corrosion must be obviously from within. Thw wifes old x-trail had a rust spot on the roof of all places and the dealer said"it's a stone chip". It wasn't, it was a little prout spot of steel that was buffed flat and the paint was buffed off it, as soon as we took delivery it was a brown spot in a few month. The alloys were the same. I fought tooth & nail to have the alloys refinished as they blistered within a few moths. dealers response - "they don't put salt on the roads in Spain so they don't have this problem with the spanish paints" !!!!!!!! EH?!?? When they fixed them they had the x-trail in the dealers on axle stands for 10 days! Ex brother in law worked for nissan and he said that loads of bodywork warrantys were knocked back as policy, even though he knew they were because of poor production techniques. You takes your chances..... Jas
  18. I had one of these for a year, I had very little hassle with it at all except a flat spot that appeared that you couldn't really miss. In the end i took it to an electrical auto tune place. There was a sensor packed up that he sorted for £60 IIR. But I don't remember what the hell it was.... One thing though, theres loads of them on the road, so most places are pretty used to dealing with the electrical side of them. I tried the forums also, but all I ever got there was "whats the best car wax" and "how to add chrome to the interior" type stuff... there good little motors usually Jas
  19. I'm not sure "good" is the phrase I'd use, but mines a typical britpart one from paddocks. With 16 years experience of welding motors (some in the trade) I'm always taken by suprise when a panel is an exact fit. I'd expect to "jiggle" most panels and the crossmember was no different...... Mind, I can be a bit picky sometimes.... Jas
  20. following some of the links from that page gets you these... http://aistigave.hit.bg/Logistics/ some good ones there.... Jas

  24. Not heard that one before, I think he's gonna explode.......
  25. I suspect you may be correct........ But I may weld the nut onto a spreader plate and slide it from the rear crossmember gap into place above the tank then tighten it from the top. Nothings straight forward is it....... Jas
