  1. I'm obviously missing something here..... Why is the fitting of an overdrive making the gearbox weaker when it is not in use in 1,2,3 & 4th gear ? "extended sump for the transfer box" - I was not aware the were around for the Series gearbox ?
  2. The Series tows.... Greenlaning... That's why Higher Ratio Diffs / High Ratio Transferbox are not really the route I want to go on The Roamerdrive is obviously interesting but I keep hearing about the quality of parts (bearings) and for that sort of money I'd expect differently.
  3. I can only take my hat off in awe.... Very, very nice done and the hard work shows. How difficult was it to get the vehicle legally on the road again after your mods ?
  4. Swopping for 3.54 diffs is not really what I want as it also is there in Low Box. And we use that a lot.
  5. Hmm.... Roamerdrive. € 2.890 roughly by the time it is here from Canada or about € 2650 from Synchro..... Plus, officially, the import duties and VAT when entering the Continent.

Thank You All. - Taller Tyres : I run 235/85 R16 and they are just fine for what i need. - Ashcroft HRG are not an option for me for various reasons. - France has now a lot of 90 km/h. roads and the Series is comfortable in 4th around the 75 km/h. mark and that need to be a bit more. @ Gazzar : what sort of money is an overdrive these days, do they need a rebuild before fitting ?
  7. 88: Series Hybrid 200 Tdi Pulls well Max Speed about 75 km/h. Could do with a bit higher cruising speed every now and then - not going the higher ratio diff route. Overdrive ? Where to get one..... Let me hear what you think please.

  13. I hope to take delivery later this year of a new rear axle casing and would like to keep it for a long time. - Do I have the tub galvanized or not ? - Do I have the tub powder coated or not ? What are you experiences / views on this please ?

  15. That aluminium would make a very nice battery box for my 110 under the passenger seat. Why are you so far away..... (now going to sit in dark closet with coffee to recover....)

Without seeing the vehicle / bulkhead / engine bay.. - LT77 keeps engine (normally a 200 Tdi) closer to the bulkhead - thus the big plastic cowl on them between radiator en fan - R380 is usu. mated to a 300 Tdi and has a longer bell housing and the engine mounts are moved back on the engine block Drive a 300 Tdi Disco and get an idea how it sort of could feel. I had a 110 CSW with a ZF but it was mated to a Mazda and one of the best vehicles i've ever driven.. You mention you recently had the bulkhead galvanized ? That would have been a good moment to have done this gearbox conversion. Money ? Ask different specialists for a quote.
