  1. Going up to Jaffrau is a long and winding track : Be advised the weather up there, as in most mountain areas, can change in minutes from beautiful Summer 35 C + tot freezing hail in clouds. We have assisted more than a few walkers and cyclists over the years that were in deep sh. t. Also, it can be very busy with traffic and at times the tracks will be closed. Go and visit campibg Gran Bosco in the valley as they have good info.
  2. Be very careful with the routes you find online... Majority of people don't give a r..s a.. about legality as they drive them once and usu. never come back. Also, many tracks are closed "par ordere" by the Prefecture, not to mention land slides and the likes. Also, at the moment there is a lot closed due to the extreme weather. Local info is best. Enjoy !
  3. Looks neat. Wonder what it will weight once you've finished it...
  4. Fascinating to see a Master showing hos skills
  5. Where about in the UK are you located please ?
  6. Thanks. Need to take a party out this weekend for some serious Greenlaning and all that..
  7. That poor 90 chassis & bulkhead have been sitting like that for 9 months now........ We're just too busy. And now we have found this bulkhead compare show. Not to mention somebody suggested to fit an hydraulic winch to the 90.... (head banging against a chassis icon here) We are actually a bit surprised at the variations in the various bulkheads.. So we need try to make clear what the differences are - not "better" or "worse"
  8. Oh...... I wished I could get that body........ would make the rebuild of the 110 so much easier..... Brexit...
  9. As I said, we could easily write pages after pages on the differences and these days one has to be very careful. Also, it is a LOT of work as these things are about 31 kgs. and have some sharp edges etc.. Also, we have to try and fit them on various chassis from different makes to eliminate the tolerances in the chassis.. Dimensions - the most important one is for the "feet" to be in the right place - but with LR tolerances, that is not easy - and the quality of the galvanization.. Obviously, the finishing is a thing as different manufacturers do things all a bit different. Some clear out treads better than others. So, please be patient - we're working on it but we also have real world issues to deal with. Like running a company..
  10. Recently, I was involved in comparison between 3 different makes of LR Defender Bulkheads. They all have the same name, they look a lot alike but they are def. not. Now, for some obvious legal reasons, I can't name names here, but it has become very clear that if you put 3 LHD Defender 300 Tdi Galvanized Bulkheads next to each other you can find quite a few differences. Some finds are important, some a minor detail. As they are a structural part of your Defender (or Series for that matter) I strongly advise you to have a good look at hem and measure.
  11. Good to hear real world living reports with one. Love that DII behind you. Would love to know more on them..
  12. Perhaps for the best...
  13. Goedemorgen, Just back from a trip to Holland with a smallish trailer : I am doing a trip to the UK this weekend but I do not have a trailer with me that would take an Audi 80 unfortunately.. However, what is stopping you from flying to France, hire a recovery vehicle from KiLouTou, LeClerque or the likes, load your Audi 80, drive to the UK, deliver the vehicle, drive back, get in the plane and you're done. What you're not saying is where the vehicle is registred ? Brexit changed a few things..... IF you're the registered UK owner of the Audi, you have very limited Customs formalities. If it is on FR plates, you may have to do some paperwork. Bon Courage.
  14. Thanks - not seen these IR Tacho's before.
  15. Well sealed as in quality plastic sack, vacuum sealed with some moisture catching stuff. Dust & sand do not mix with these pumps.
  16. What others have said - please include the fuel lift pump. Carry a spare one in the vehicle - well sealed - as they die on you without warning.. Sounds very much like a air leak in the fuel lines
  17. Several people have used 1 piece braided on project I keep reading and are happy with that - may do that on a DII project. Rigid S/S pipe may have issues with the vibration, heat, etc.. Good quality copper lines should last you for less money also a long time..
  18. Nice - lots of work there. Not galvanizing the chassis ?
  19. Welcome to the MadHouse... What has been said. Really, don't do it. Defenders in any shape or form are overpriced bottomless money pits. Drive as many different versions as you can, make sure you really understand what you're getting into and buy for less money a D 1 or 2. Not perfect vehicles but so much more comfort and for 90 % as good off road as the Defender - but with a working heater, good seats and a cabin you can actually listen to the radio in. But, if you really want a 2.2 or 2.4, budget a chassis and bulkhead swop as they will be needed.. Good luck !
  20. He's making it look sooooo easy..... Stand back in awe for the Master !
