  1. Continental CrossContact work for me Did many, many miles on them on both D1's and RRC's Lasted very well.
  2. Nothing too wrong with that.. I have to replace my rear tub on the Series as somebody ran into it and we sourced 2 bodies to make 1. Ultra does new rear Series bodies and will do Defender ones, too, soon they claim. Be sure to sit down before opening the price list though....
  3. Clixtar is a sale name for Veldhuizen trailers" in Loosdrecht, Holland. Many, many years ago they found an interesting EU bit of law and have been building very interesting B+E solutions since then. Have a look here if you want to see some weird stuff : https://veldhuizen.nl/ They now also do C stuff, tractors and the likes. You'll find them everywhere in Europe these days
  4. The clixtar is from the same cmpany. Look carefully and notice the rear lights on the 2nd rear axle. Thing is under EU law a car+trailer Like this one : 7 tonnes under B+E
  5. Not sure what the situation is in the UK after the BREXIT, but...... This is in the EU 10 ton trainweight on a B+E licence..... FYI : this is actuall a small one.... I have taken one on a spin to FR that was 18 mtrs.... A 40 Ft. 5th wheel caravan. Towed very, very well.
  6. "D2 chassis hardly need any encouragement to rust" Yes.... That is why galvanized new ones are out there.
  7. If you're looking into "boosting" your mobile phone signal you have to be very careful as things have changed a lot in Europe. We used to have some serious - Motorola made - hardwired into the various RR's & LR's in the '90 (ATM - analogue) and later GSM (digital) and modern networks do not like "boosted" signals as it totally %#$~@ the systems and often results in said IMEI to be shut out for a while. If you want 99 % cover, get a SatPhone. We use them a lot and some work for data. Not too fast, but for simple E-mail traffic it works.
  8. Very interesting so please keep it coming. However, there always is one..... A major problem with all the conversions is legality.... I have left only a few LR's and 1 could e a god candidate for an E-motor conversion. But one can't do it DIY here as only at the time of writing 2 companies can do this. And the amount of €€€ involved make it a big no go. Not to mention us mere mortals living out in the deep dark Auvergne where 3 phase is getting rare and solar panels can't be integrated into the grid..
  9. Had one on my 1st. Range Rover. Replaced it with a WARN 8274 Nice piece of history
  10. Good morning, Asking for a friend - really, I have TIC myself - who needs bushes for his RM parabolics and has difficulty finding them. He's in Holland. Any suggestions ?
  11. Yes, it will affect the cooling. Yes, LEDs will give more light for less current The Tdi loves good cooling - we live in FR and it also gets hot here and the Tdi's sure feel that when you have good measuring equipment. I'd suggest to adjust speed to vision if possible.
  12. Get the MultiMeter out and have 15 min. to see what wire does what. Solder the extensions (sleeve them) and make it waterproof somewhere inside the vehicle so you have no issues en route to the socket. Some people fill the socket once everything is teste with epoxy or the likes to water proof it. In the end, of the 13 pins, usually "only" 7-9 are used.
  13. I was going to stay out of this one but..... ".. an old SL35 is a great engine - it will murder your gearbox though.." All down to your right foot / drivestyle Had several Mazda's with both auto and manual boxes and never problems. Only did a million kms. with one engine in a to some very well know Soft dash with an R380 / LT230 and I once changed the rubber donut. And yes, we towed a lot as some of you know. In fact, I had 2 of them sitting here to go into the 110 but that is not to be. Rebuilding the 200 Tdi sounds like a good idea.
  14. Not really sure but comparing the 2 gaskets would make it easy to see. But why the different pan ? Think you'll need to add an oil pick up for the turbo.. Seriously good build though !!
  15. You are very welcome ! We'll be waiting for you
  16. Good to hear you're back ! Daughter is not good though..
  17. Thank You All Very Much. Sent them an E-mail - let's see what comes back.
