Sounds good, although I have used tayna since 2006 so am spoilt really, half the price of halfords for brands and next day delivery, via a courier that transports batteries properly. Think most of their batteries are inc vat and £7 delivery mainland. The numax are £64 which is £71 inc vat 3 yr warranty, although mine only lasted 8 years....lol

had 2x cxv24mf in the 110 battery box from tayna in 2008, lasted well till this summer, noticed they go flat quicker than normal if parked up now. About to order 2 more been advised the Enduroline calcium tech EXV90 is a like for like replacement size wise, but with 4yr warranty rather than 3.

might need a better new sender assembly, I bought one for the 110 a while back that had an incomplete weld/brazed pickup pipe so it would have leaked from the flange from new had i fitted it. It came in a blue box...... nuff said.

Made my own from 6mm marine ply, only need the lower portion as this is where you feel the cold. I stapled some foil backed plastic insulation on the rear and cut out some speaker rings cut from 2 thicknesses of 18mm ply to allow door speakers to be fitted, all this comes off and doesn't detract from the base vehicle in use. i.e chopping into the lower dash or panels. Add a splash of nato green paint and you are good to go.

Caught up on a baffle or scraping the tank on the way down, is it the 2 wire sender with no low fuel wire?

And if it is expired, you can still drive to an MOT appointment and back home again regardless of result. As it is still taxed and insured.

The only other lead i can offer based on internet searches/lucas parts numbers are the BMW 7/8 series have the same casing visually along with the same spec motor and number of teeth. It may be worth putting them side by side on the parts store bench and comparing. I.e if they spin the same way and dimensions wise. If things are looking desperate.

as the fuel filter is after the lift pump the next place is the longer pipe back to the tank. have you checked the rubber leakoff tubing between the injectors as well?

Probably a good reason it had a nice new gearbox, reverse eventually disappears. Plenty of the older ones on your fave auction site with just needs attention, or don't park forwards against a wall. Which i believe is a separate issue to the mechatronic fail.

Just be aware the DSG in VAG models has a nickname on the various VAG forums of D.og S.hite G.earbox. The 2.7 auto in the A6? mated with this has been a recipe for disaster in older models. The Haldex clutch however in the Octavia 4x4 is a work of genius. I very nearly bought the 1.9tdi 4x4 to replace my Seat years ago

I bought 2, one is fitted as per instructions in the walt (wolf spec 110 ffr). The other is still bagged in standby mode, but 2 of the pieces makes an excellent work sheet under the land rover. Noticed the difference with/without, it also stops the annoying condensation drips from various points, now it just collects and then shoots onto the dash/windscreen on first braking action.

if you have diesel out of the filter screw when cranking, your fuel filter and lift pump are probably ok and have a fuel supply. more likely next point of call is does the stop solenoid have +12v on it when cranking or at pos 2? you can unscrew part of it or replace it if you dont have fuel into the fuel injection pump, check the connection here and make sure the white wire and spade terminal are firmly connected.

At that age and mileage things could get expensive quickly. Have a scour of the posts on here for the usual faults. i.e auto gearbox and tranferbox tend to need work around this mileage unless the have been cared for, next up is the eas (electronic airsuspension) which is a lovely thing when it's working. airbags can perish and valve blocks or pump may need rebuilding. Various electric issues such as three revisions of remote rf fob receiver with all but the last one being responsible for flat batteries. If you can do the work yourself (and your uni course is mech/electronics) it is a good learning experience. The P38 is lovely to drive, and probably quite difficult to steal (even if you have the keys on some days). Parts sources are mostly pattern parts or aftermarket , as new genuine can be eye watering. i.e abs booster pump. At 20 years old with that sort of mileage it should be around a grand or less.

Casting my mind back to the 300tdi belt issue where a similar thing happens on certain s/n engines. LR issued a mod kit which included a shouldered pulley for the crankshaft to help the belt run truer. I read up on the reasons why it was needed etc at the time. Can seem to remember that the fip/bracket is L shaped if tightened on the engine first, then the fip bolts are pulled tight into the timing case which can pull the casing or pump out of true. The mod kit went some way to address this but suppose if a timing case is twisted/warped a bit it's not going to be 100% When i first did my 300tdi the outside shoulder on the pulley was 50% worn and polished, along with the black dust, i do inspect the belt every 6-8 thousand now. Just wondering if a 300tdi shouldered pulley would fit 200tdi to help the belt find it's true course.

Could the idler or a better one be found amongst the Austin/Rover stables variety of (Perkins)? diesel engines. Just wondering as they seem to reuse lots of parts then out of the blue use something which costs a fortune and fits nothing else.
