  1. could always throw a bit of wood in to drive on to add some clearance if needed or drive onto a kerb. if things get desperate there should be a handy nearby pothole to put the jack in on our fine British roads
  2. My mate uses a Sprinter/Crafter jack successfully. They are a smidge taller (which isn't a bad thing). Rated at 2.6T and has a saddle on top. Think they are 2 stage. Prices similar to P38/Disco jack etc.
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SELECTION-OF-VARIOUS-SIDE-CABINET-ROLLER-SHUTTERS-/231765404927?hash=item35f64b6cff:g:j1YAAOSwp5JWVvCV locker doors or tambour? doors. Foley SV do wolf expedition lockers, not sure they'd be high enough. Mine have just about rotted out after 10 years (powder coat was carp) edit: search tambour door kits
  4. +1 for bottle jack with a saddle, if you have the chassis type jack or farm jack, they are very useful for some things. Changing a wheel isn't one of them. You'll end up lifting the body off the axle till the wheel/ axle is hanging off the flexi brake pipe or the bottom of the shock absorber (not cool). Unless you use a dislocation strap or chain mmm specialist.
  5. i have these on mine for last 7-8 years without problem, big difference to sealed beam candles i had before. Running halfords super brilliance 55/60w bulbs (not blue or yellow) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Wipac-S6071-Crystal-clear-lens-headlamps-E-mkd-inc-halogen-bulbs-/150641711617 they were sold as bemp2 or something similar
  6. some good ideas here if you fancy making one, http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/mini-sheet-metal-folder.3710/ or not as spendy as 700 sheets, but depends what gauge you are after. http://www.frost.co.uk/auto-bodywork-welding-metalworking-machine/metal-working-machines-tools/sheet-metal-folder-vice-mounting-precision-bench-folder-24inch-600mm.html pete
  7. Can't see from the pics, any smaller text etc, you could try searching on the FV number for the trailer type.
  8. http://www.rdgtools.co.uk/acatalog/SHEET_METAL_MACHINES.html some more to peruse. Think the limiting factor with most of these is the capacity. i.e it will do 1mm over the full width. Some of the cheaper machines will state 1.6 or 2mm but only at say 100mm wide
  9. excellent visual, Bowie69, not sure how i managed to copy once and paste twice, one link should have been the stubby one
  10. din to iso, standard part. Halfrauds or Autoleads. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Aerial-Antenna-Adaptor-For-Car-Radio-DIN-to-ISO-DIN-Female-to-ISO-Male-/260399094480?hash=item3ca0fedad0:m:m3eDh9_wpj3URKm2A6AdNLw previous post saying you may already have one of these, can't see from photo http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Aerial-Antenna-Adaptor-For-Car-Radio-DIN-to-ISO-DIN-Female-to-ISO-Male-/260399094480?hash=item3ca0fedad0:m:m3eDh9_wpj3URKm2A6AdNLw
  11. not as far as i can see, the gas is at pressure already albeit fairly low. The air is compressed from atmosphere to produce a pressurised of air to be mixed with the natural gas which then combined burns hotter. A bunsen burner uses the gas to draw air from atmosphere into a tube to burn combined to produce the blue flame. This does effectively the same but the air is compressed to be mixed with the natural gas. However the whole thing could need an overhaul and regular safety check for blow back valves, cutoffs and the diaphragm etc. Probably not worth the faff, when you could buy a disposable set from screwfix. The hearth looks useful though, with some firebricks and heatproof sheets.
  12. pump to add pressure to blue hose, so forced air and gas. To be honest it's a bit of a liability. I'd rip out the gas bits/motor/etc and use the stand with the fire bricks etc. Scrap the moving parts and buy an oxy/propane set for brazing. Pete
  13. kylie clinton in Birmingham, offer a really decent service. Even used some gas warming to swap my drop arm off for me. ( i couldn't shift it and was ready to buy another). http://www.steering-racks.co.uk/ Pete
  14. How does the feed swap over is it the stalk which carries voltage or via one or two relays? Thinking a delay on a relay to keep it on for a second when you switch over might be a solution. Or more basic a large electrolytic capacitor across the led headlamp feed to hold the juice for a second. (the type the car audio guys use on their woofer amps)
  15. Is there a fuse that fuses the led's what happens if that goes?
  16. Nice result, see if you can mechanically crimp it at some point in the future, the reason being the heat in those areas can get near solder melting point.
  17. also check you have some carbon left in your brushes, if the carbon brushes aren't touching the commutator it wont send any voltage to the motor coil. These are off the wires at point 4 which are wrapped round the coil and then into the brass coloured brush holders.
  18. I repaired a similar erbauer one after the spindle snagged in a dust sheet and stalled the motor, which let the smoke out of the handle. As someone says take the speed cont out of cicuit and try 230v across the motor for a second or two, you lose the speed control and soft start. If this works my bet is the scr/triac is a gonner. See if you can get a part number of the black transistor like package (3 legs) or post a pic/model number of router
  19. stackable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-way-FUSEBOX-Blade-fuses-16-x-Mixed-Blade-Fuses-/262240147636?hash=item3d0ebb18b4
  20. similar to western, i have a dual band pl259 base ant http://www.radioworld.co.uk/amateur_radio_antenna/vhf-uhf_mobile_antennas/diamond-antenna-vhf-uhf-mobile-antenna/nr-7700r_diamond_2m_70cm_dualbander_250w_200w you also need a body mount so239 base and cable to mount it http://www.radioworld.co.uk/ech_diamond_cable_kit_for_mobile_antenna?query=mobile%20mount or similar http://www.radioworld.co.uk/sirio-gutter-mount-with-so239-cable-kit-for-mobile-antennas?query=mobile%20mount&page=2
  21. Question is, is it still under warranty if you go outside LR stealer in first 12, 24, or 36 months?
  22. Something substantial but removable if required? these bolt through dumb irons to avoid bumper bendage issues. Shouldn't detract from the standard fixings if required to do something else later on. http://www.frogsisland4x4.com/towing_equipTFBRP or http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/recovery-eyes.html
  23. mmmm seatbelt webbing then wire rope/metal hook/chain. Not a great combination. Won't it rot being on the underside of the vehicle in the salt/mud/rain (was going to say uv from sun but lets be realistic......)
  24. +1 for Ashcroft transmissions, we've used them for diy swap on transfer box then a drive in swap on the auto mainbox. (their drive in service price included a hire car and fluids). Which was a nice day out at bletchley park. Not sure if there is a garage close to you who could do the work (noticed you'd quoted euros)
  25. Is the info in my link from ages ago any good to save cash on a 300tdi on one? not sure which part you have lost Western. I.e would a rr classic fit amr3957 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=55437&hl=%2Brear+%2Bwiper#entry799429
