Retroanaconda
Has anybody removed this raised section at the front of the seatbox? I am going to be fitting the weight off road matting and I’d rather not have to cut a hole in it for this section. Not sure if it serves any function? western
looks to be an attachment point for the centre access panel & looks to go down the front to reinforce that forward edge & has the mounting flange for the gearbox tunnel panel.
reb78
I think its reinforcement for that section as i think it would be weak without that there? I cut my matting around it. It looks quite neat but I can see why you dont want to.
Retroanaconda
I reckon if I cut the top bit out and fold & secure the front face back over the top of the seat box upper plate then it would add back in some of the lost strength? Mo Murphy
I considered it James but decided that that section would be quite weak without it with the weight of a battery box on each side. So I left it and cut the section of the mat out instead. HTH Mo
Gazzar
Could you for it to the underside? Or lob in a chunk of angle section aluminium instead (underneath)?
Anderzander
I was thinking you could put it on the underside…
landroversforever
I’m planning on removing mine but building it back up underneath. Pending gearbox clearance!
Retroanaconda
It’s pretty tight under there on the LT77 at least. You might get perhaps a piece of 15mm angle in. I think I’ll leave it in place but will cut down a piece of the removed section of matting to slot inside it for maximum acoustic coverage!
miketomcat
Our 110 had that section cut out for a discovery gearbox, it made the whole seat box weak. When I put the correct gearbox in I found the bit that was cut out and bolted a bit of stainless angle over it. If I was to cut it off I would bolt or rivet some angle over there to strengthen the bridge. That way it would be strong and nearly flush. pete3000
I cut 18mm from each side on my lt77 seatbox to allow the r380 wright off road matting to fit. rounded the corner cut with a file to avoid a stress fracture. I put an r380 in years ago but trimmed up the face of the seatbox.
