simonr
They have to be one of the best looking and IMHO most technically innovative cars there is! Almost bought one once - but the salesman was useless! Will, If you got one of these, I'm just a little envious! Si

ThreeSheds
Fantastic car to drive - I had a go in a mate's once and it was so-o-o controllable that I was drifting around bends within minutes. They really do go round corners like slot-cars! The only downside for me as a motorcyclist, was the dog-slow gearchange. I reckon it took a good second to engage the next cog - way too slow for this kind of the car... But maybe they've improved on that now? Mark90
mmm nice but prefere the one behind After all that one has a bigger engine But throw in a few bends and the Elise will leave it standing, probably in a hedge somewhere. Very nice car Will, just a little envuous here too. When does the rebuild start? 3 link, ARB's, twin 8274's, 37" creepies? B)
Kev Baldwin
Cool, but not quite cool enough! Mate has one of these mad things tucked away in his garage for sunny days..... The stripped to the bare bones version of the Elise. The Lotus 340R (340bhp per tonne)
Mo Murphy
Blimey, pay all that money for a car and they put the steering wheel on the wrong side Mo
Daan
That is cool. And when you drive one and realise a roll is inevatable, than think about this: I designed that roll cage! Daan

will_warne
Thanks for the compliments about the car, I've only had is for about 10 days! Having spent several hours last night working on it, though, I can tell you I'm glad there's a local Lotus specialist not far away. They really are pigs to work on! At least it means the 90 won't have much competition. The handling is very very nice although I know about the interesting behaviour on the limit as I've got a couple of friends who have them. To be honest the reputation isn't really deserved as you can hold it if you know its coming. Mine's got 2nd generation dampers which seems to help a bit too. Mark, you're totally right about the power as they're not that fast. I've got plans to deal with that eventually although the 90's the priority. Kev, I tried to convince a friend to get a 340R although he's gone and bought a Caterham R400 instead. Several of us have held a sweep stake of how long it'll be before he and the car end up in a tree.

Kev Baldwin
Will Mate of mine had an Exige prior to the 340R. Be careful where you park it. Thing to watch out for are other people not seeing your Lotus when trying to get in and out of parking bays. His Exige ended up getting hit twice in this way. Each time it meant a trip back to Lotus for repairs. The best one though was taking it to the Lotus dealer to have the front end repaired for the third time and getting hit up the arse en-route. We didn't laugh much...... Was all set to trade Exige in for a 911 GT4 when Lotus dealer offered him the 340R. One previous owner was apparently some big cheese in the Lotus owners club. Reg number is LTS340R.

Reg number is LTS340R. Yeah, they're small cars and very easy to miss. I've got a story nearly as good. On the way down to Le Mans this year a friend of mine with an elise reg no L66 TUS got hit from behind at traffic lights by a chap in a beaten up car who'd been taking a picture of the number plate with his phone while driving. Luckily my mate saw him coming and dropped the clutch so there wasn't any damage to the rear clam. However he needed a new exhaust system (a complete Janspeed SS system at just under £1k ) and a little paintwork. P.S. Tony, you know me too well. This one's my daily driver so won't come off the road.

Glad you know about that, I know a few that have ended up damaged because their owners thought they were bomb proof. If you fancy getting it out on track and finding the limit in safety, I know a good group of guys that go out on airfeilds/tracks etc. fully qualified instructors etc. The 'company' was set up by a couple of Hampshire Scooby owners who love the excuse to get out on track and know you only get the good tracks with good groups and organisation B) - I think they've have owned everything possible beween them in the past and have every type of vehcile attending the different training days. Got their details if you fancy giving it a go, just drop me a PM. The chap I sold my last Scooby too was coming from a Lotus - unfortuantly he had a disagreement with a roundabout, those body shells are expensive! Yep, I'm deffinatly going to do a few track days to see what its like on the limit - airfield days would be even better. As you say they've got a nasty reputation - a friend knows the dealer who was the first person to write an elise off
Paul McCleary
Both lovely cars. B) I'd love the Elise, but simply cannot get in and out of one easily. I tried the VX as we have a Dealer next door to work who will do stunning deals, but couldn't fit in that either. The showroom staff did have a laugh at my expense. I ended up buying an Evo 6 RS2 and still have it 5 years later. Paul.
