OT: All this rain

Lots of flooding in and around Swindon today (the place needs a good flush  ), and it's tipping it down again, so maybe I'll wake up in the morning and the whole toilet will be gone and it'll be just me (well - and the co-op and the offy) in the middle of a big field :D

I got my SUV, 2" lifted, snorkelled, Mondeo through some that was about 6-inches deep this morning :D

Didn't see Diesel Jim, but no doubt he was out being a hooligan in his Jap thingy.

I did hear that Bush doctor attempt to recover a BMW ragtop , from a lane but the owner didnt have the screw in recovery point ,. No photos though ,

most of the Rat Run back lanes of south Bristol have been littered with swamped cars , I dont know , One bloke in a Transit said " I dont know why it stopped Its a diesel, they are good in water arnt they " I just smiled at him when I saw the oil leaving his engine , It must of put a leg out of bed.

If Friday's performance was any indication the Shepton Mallet must have been fairly wet too this afternoon! I almost had to swim home!

went out today and came aross a nice deep water ford....... plenty of cars parked infront of it.....i jumped out and had a look at t. it was running at 1m deep. the flow wasnt incredibly fast...........so decided i would head that way still as it saved me 3 miles extra...( all snorkled up)..

moved the 110 to the front on the line of cars and dipped my wheels in ............everyone dashed to the bridge to watch....about 7 people in all.... i felt the pressure to make it to the other side

as i hit the deepest part i looked out the drivers door window.....urrm the flow was driving the water up my door alittle further than i thought it would.....just below the window..... the water came in through the heater vent .....but believe it or not i wasn't worried at all....i have more faith in the 110 than most of the other trucks i have owned....

the heater was turned off so no matter...... out the other side i popped.... opened the drivers door to let some water out and got a round of applause :D:o:lol: ....

ahhh she may be old but she still goes where others fear to tread  .i love landies

I bothered, just been out for an hour or so driving the local roads. The Nynehead bit only just covered the wheels so not that deep.

did get a little worried on the road from bishops Hull to silk mills- the water was well over the lights and most of the way up the bonnet- did get a nice bow way though- the look on the bloke's face at the other end was priceless- he was stopping people coming through the "totally impassable flood" and couldn't quite beleive that we had just driven through.

car's nice and clean now though!

Well that went down quick,, was just touching the 3ft ,,on the first board, just after 6 pm !!

found some on friday on the way home police road closed sign so i thought i would be rude not to investigate

came round the corner the board on the side of the road showed 3.5 foot so thought ok problem was the was an escort van parked in the middle of the road with the water half way up the windscreen. had to try and remember if there were ditches at the side of the road.managed to squeeze past

the only thing to suffer was my mobile fone which got covered in condensation coz o forgot to take it in doors

had to emtpy the headlight and spots as they were a bit wet

went back the next morning and it was all gone shame as it would be more fun in the daylight headlights underwater does not make it easy to drive

Me and a few mates went looking for floods last night after the pubs shut but only found Stoneham lane which was only about 1 ft deep and 50m long

Still funny driving up to it, we had a Audi A6 following us and as I drove into it, the driver suddenly realised just how big the flood was.. with a hasty retreat from the A6  that ws the only fun I managed with the car batting.

The concord club ford was much deeper and faster flowing but didn't fancy going much further into that as the Disco is my daily driver...

Hi Milemarker, i must have missed the water. I live in Ogwell so just down the road. I did find a little water in the denbury lanes but my girlfriend had the disco so i was in her mini slowing going through the puddles.

If you are ever out green laning and its not too risky please let me know as i only know a few round here.

Ed - i have just sent you an email, plus Simon (Shrek) can also normally be found lurking around OEC (getting in the way!) i am sure he can point you in the right direction for some lanes. he may have a spare seat for the 20 Jan DRD as well, not sure how many seats their vehicle has.
