WALES TRIP: Pictures and tales from the front line

Recommended Posts

Our group did the Corwen Carwash on Saturday night. Being not very brave we sent our sacrifical Sticky in first as his truck was least valuable! Since it only came to the top of the headlights we all went through with nothing more untoward than wet carpets and my AA road Atlas which is now drying out on the Aga! There are some good vids out there which will probably come to light eventually!

My better half (Pete Attryde) has already posted his thanks but I'd like to add mine too and as I was in charge of the camera I've fought for the right to post the pics! Was lovely to meet everybody (either again or for the first time) and Neil/Les did a great job leading our group so special thanks to them!

Maybe if all the "little jobs" are done on the 90 in time for next year I might get to go behind the wheel and Pete can be photographer for a change!

Here's some of my photos - they're pretty self-explanatory, apart from the shot of Si with his "darts player's salad", and the shot of three blokes in the dark explaining why they would cross the swollen river, with the eddies on the surface and a steady flow faster than walking pace, but they've just changed their tyres / rewired their radio / don't know the area etc...

Best part of the weekend: the entertainment value of the CB, which I only threw into the truck as an afterthought on Friday morning.

Low point of the weekend: being caught up on the Wayfarer by a massive group of Jap offroaders - they were queued away around the corner, in a ridiculous size group. I saw them on the way home too, as I headed out of Bala, and they give the rest of us a bad name.

As I said earlier, thanks to everyone involved for playing their part but particularly to Chris - I owe you a pint.

Edit: I've put a

, and since I'm pressing the buttons, I get to pick the clip where I don't get stuck :)

Why is it I know where all of the pictures were taken laugh.gif

Glad you all had a good time when I was back at work mad.gif But I did get to pick up a broken Disco today.

Paul

Be honest Paul... There's probably not a lane in Wales you couldn't identify. :)

Thanks for your help with routes and information. We re-shaped a couple of wings everso slightly on the Wayfarer but after trying to straddle the bank and gulley had to resort to getting through the patch in a 2nd low, diff locked with a bit of grunt sort of way.

James... After spending too much time on Wayfarer we didn't get to Pheasant pen steps.... I'm sort of glad we didn't have enough time ! ;)
