stuck
Gents, Not wishing to reignite the Britpart debate but could anybody tell me if Paddocks stock Britpart? They list an aftermarket radiator for Defender TD5 at £99 + VAT, if I order it will it turn up in a blue box? If so it looks like I'll have to spend £220 + VAT for original ( but I will know it will last 10 years )
longlandy
You have to be carefull with paddocks. I threw away a whole order from them once, it was britpart or worse even though they promised otherwise
mmgemini
Why go to Paddocks when you should have a good radiator specialist locally ? What's wrong with the rad ? If I was buying a new radiator instead of having one repaired I'd buy Serk or Marston after all they both supply Land Rover
Disco-Ron
More than likely it'd be in a blue box from them.......... from much experience, most of thier stuff is!!
stuck
Thanks chaps, I've never used Paddocks, guess I won't be doing either. Mike, the seam has gone between the N.S. Tank and the core, don't have time to get it re-cored but I may do so I have a spare. Mick.
Disco-Ron
YOu also need to be careful on eblag...... i bought a new rad for my 300, and guess what, the picture showed a brass/copper rad, and when it arrived it was in a blue box and has plastic end tanks and alloy core.... Steve King
Unless stated otherwise it will be Britpart.
dirtyninety
Bought a 99quid rad for a 200tdi disco/defender from paddocks it wasnt a britpart.
Range Rover Blues
Paddocks are so much better if you can go in. I gave up trying to educate the telephone monkeys there and buy elsewhere these days. Shameas the guys in the stores have an encyclopedic knowledge.
Bowie69
Shameas the guys in the stores have an encyclopedic knowledge. The same guys that insisted I had changed my axles on my 1991 RRC because it had separate, thin, drive flanges...? On both my 1991 RRC's.... I'll only use then for stuff if they are significantly cheaper and I know exactly what I am after, otherwise I tend to go elsewhere nowadays. q-rover
At least this lot give you an option.
Tris Cocks
I placed an order with Paddocks last week and needed a new Water Pump, I they had either an OE option or a cheaper one, i asked whether the cheaper one was Britpart or another make, the reply was that it was Bearmach. Opened the box when it was arrieved and it was indeed a Bearmach part. I think if you ask and specify that you dont want Britpart then they wont supply it. farmerboy_y2k
Paddocks send britpart by default, but they also stock bearmach and allmakes but you have to ring and ask. I use mail order 4x4 for most things now.
tweetyduck
I use Mailorder4x4 and Island4x4 for most things. The local "land rover parts shop" place is also very helpful for things but they are expensive in comparison to Mailorder and Island. Britcar is very very good but delivery is slower and more expensive and although and web site is only second to LRSeries (who i do not use out of principal) i use the others more often. So Mailorder and Island are my pick. The Island delivery notifications are just superb. Really they are damn brilliant.
simonr
No supplier knows everything - even about the parts they stock. No matter who you are ordering from you have to do a bit of groundwork first. I've personally had a good experience of Paddocks but maybe that's because I know what I want and what questions to ask. If it's significantly cheaper than from a dealer - you have to ask yourself what the quality is going to be like, and if it matters to you. If it does, buy it from a main dealer or a local independent that you can go and harrass if it's wrong. Si
brighouse shed
Always find Paddocks to be great but I do go to the shop which does mean i can see the bits before i buy. Also find the staff are in general land rover mad so will give advice as well never had a problem with a Britpart myself in fact washer pump is better than original being almost silent. Gromit
web site is only second to LRSeries (who i do not use out of principal) On what principal?
tweetyduck
Their customer service is dire (IMHO). Their attitude to customers is dire (IMHO). I've actully never in my entire life experienced such poor service and attitude. I cancelled a parts order for over £1000 because they couldn't be bothered to answer a simple question over the phone or email. They felt the need to belittle and insult me instead. On the flip side to that BritCar were only too happy to answer that same question and so got my order. Cancelling the LRSeries order was in itself difficult even though they hadn't picked, packaged or delivered any of the items i'd ordered. Arogance to the extreme. Have you looked at their terms and conditions? They kindly blocked me as a buyer as they have done with anyone who dares to ask questions. It seems until the offensive employee leaves their employ we will all have to put up with his poor customer serivce. I don't know if he's still there or not (or indeed if he is one of the owners) but he should go and work somewhere he doesn't have to deal with customers at all (IMHO) (commnents made in this post are my own and based on actual experiece)
forkrentfitter
i have known and dealt with the owner of britcar for the best part of 20 years,he is heartened to know the effort he and his employees put in is appreciated,as has been said he is not the cheapest and maybe not the fastest but he is efficient.
