western
found these lurking in my rear cross member, going to remove tow bracket & cut out the bad stuff & make some repair plates to weld in during my few days off work.
steve b
Thats fairly rusty , have you given it a good poke on the inside bit where the tow hitch nuts are ? - behind the tank Looks more like a new x-member would be best , otherwise you'll be welding again next mot cheers steveb
western
yep, it's been poked all over. I'm happy it'll survive for a bit longer, don't do much heavy towing thesedays.

western
No heavy towing & no it wasn't covered by anything other tan mud inside & paint/underseal outside, not sure how long that X member has ben fitted, but it's not the original item. vulcan bomber
Blimey Ralph, my 110 is 6 months older than yours but still has an un welded chassis! Well appart from the bulkhead out rigger and the radius arm mount that got bent last year by the drink driver.
western
mine worked hard in it's first 4 years before I bought it, on building sites moving small plant about, so it didn't have a easy start to life.
Maverik
I'm suprised you've not gone down the Galvy Chassis route... but actualy out of the guys on here you probably use your truck the most as you're not messing about takeing it apart and re-building it... CwazyWabbit
Ralph has stated a few times he would love to rebuild his 110 on a galvy chassis but unfortunately doesn't have the time or space to do it I'd love to rebuild mine to but same time/space problems here .... for now, but one day I'll fix that

When i did my crossmember, i covered the whole back end with a massive tarpaulin so i was pretty much working in a tent! I think it would still be off the road now if i hadnt as there werent enough dry days for it!

I think it would still be off the road now if i hadnt as there werent enough dry days for it! Thank you for that - I've been a bit concerned about how I'd get that sorted; that's a great idea and should help with shield gas too. I've just got to drop the fuel tank out on mine then I can chop out the old one & get on with fitting the nice new Black Sheep one I received last week. Well, once I've tested some more of my welds to destruction anyway.
western
Hmmm, might have walk to the local emporium to get some bungee cords, I have a big tarp already, rain stopped earlier, managed to get the holes cut to regular hapes, ready for making the repair plates tomorrow.
