There are 2 files that you need for the ECU - one is the map - and there is another one. So you need someone who has them and can flash them onto the ECU for you. I have a later type ECU on mine - though it was supplied as a replacement part by Land Rover - so has the correct type of files on it.
If you're jack is under the radius arm I'd expect it to be putting tension and weight onto the bolts you're going to try and remove. In the past I've done it just as Bush 65 said. You can chock the wheels too to try and minimise the axle rotating and keep things lined up a bit.
The main thing will be releasing tension from the bolts you want to remove.
That said I used a flexi link on my Td5 and was really impressed with the quality of it. It welded really well and was quite a substantial thing. Good price too.
So if you were to cut the exhaust flange you could weld it directly to it - only question is if it would flex enough for you.
Here is a thread with pics of my flexi pipe being fitted.
This is the stuff I bought.
Would it not be worth doing it just for the standard PID's ? Were the non-standard pid's for the SRS, ABS, ETC, HDC, TRACS, EAS, ETC, ACC, SLABS and BECM ?
What options are there for obtaining the non standard PID's? I expect access to a Rovacom or Nanocom wouldn't yield them without a lot of work?
Bishbosh,
Where did you source the 6mm ones? I'm about to pull the weights off mine (those that haven't already been knocked off on the lanes) and give the beads a try.
From what I can gather Nanocom were developing an improved version - but it went way way over the date it was due to be released and they stopped updating their web site and stopped replying to emails ..... so it kind of looks like they have gone now.
The biggest thing that puts me off Hawkeye is that you have to pay again to unlock other vehicle types..
