  1. i woutd try doing a rad flush with a hose then do the same with the block and refill then undo both the heater take off pipes at the back of the engine noteing which way round they are then pour water down one heater pipe till it comes out the other cleanly with no bubbles then reconnect this will clear the hole system out and get rid of any air locks the other thing to check is condition of the rad if it ain't got any fins it ain't gona cool mike
  2. the only reason the tomcat got built was i have a good friend who lent me their carport for 4 months and now its finished it lives in a rented garage with my bike but i should point out the bikes across the back touching the wall the tomcat touches the bike and the door just shuts as for tools home made pullers for crank pulley using a bit of ally with big nut and bolt in the middle and three m6 studs through the plate works but could do with so refinement also nylon clutch line up tool made up on my dads lathe finally its not mine but my dad made his own trolley jack!! he even machined the ram himself mind he did copy it from a friends but still impresses me mike
  3. les we're just looking in to these for the shires have a sample made to same spec as an ARB one i think the price was going to work out about £30 ish but don't quote me and we talked about just putting a sticker on it if you let me know how many people want one i can see what we can do mike
  4. your MOT man should get upset as long as it looks secure and doesn't leak thats all there really looking for mike
  5. one thing to be careful about with this option is that a lot of cars switch off the power supply to the cigarette lighter when the ignition is off this is true of disco 1's so wouldn't mind betting its across the range so check first before conecting a solar panel/gharger by this route otherwise you maybe wasting your time mike
  6. surely theres some loony out there interested what more could you ask a lot of snow like minded company and the northern lights what more can i say mike
  7. thanks mountain cabins were aleays going to be an option. we're takeing the ferry to burgen otherwise we won't have enough time did you take/need snow chains or were the roads clear enough to not need the any advice you can give would be apprecated thanks mike
  8. theres a group of nutters from the shires going to norway on the 31st march returning to uk 13th april we're planning to drive to tromso to see the northern lights via nord kapp if its open. we will be camping for the most part so a little chilly temps for that time are about the same as mid winter here. it's likely to be a round trip of about 3000 miles mainly road miles but bear in mind there should be a lot of snow around. costs are approx but its £430 for the ferry fuel is about the same as here food is slightly more and beer is extorsionate sorry chaps, so all in 2 people in one truck it's looking to be about £1500-£2000. if your interested let me know we've got 3 definates and 2 maybes would like to have a max of 6 trucks. come on you know you want to!!!! mike
  9. you could try antifoul stripper (boat bottom paint stripper) it's water soluble and works quite well mike
  10. there's a group of us from the shires going to lapland the begining of april to play in the snow not planning on taking skis though as there's no spare room in my tomcat and as the other trucks going so far are a Dlander and an ibex its not looking good on the sking front oh and did i mention were camping we must be mad!!!!!! mike
  11. i'm number 81 do you think she's got the message yet oh and she's still the only supporter tee hee
  12. normally 90's have a 1.44:1 ratio 110's a 1.41:1 and discos/rangeys 1.22:1 200tdi onwards its on a sticker on the lower edge of the rear face of the transfer box just to the left of the drum looking fowards i have a feeling they may have put a 1.6:1 in either turbo diesels and or series but i'm not sure on that failing that if you put it in 4th gear high range (this should be 1:1) with the ignition off and roll it forwards you can see how many times the crank goes round hope this helps mike
  13. I'll be at work sat and sun mornings as i'm skint if thats any help mike
  14. i maybe telling some to suck eggs but if i remember correctly you sould never grind non ferous metals on a bench grinder as particals get stuck in the wheel then expand with the heat of grinding thus causing the wheel to shatter which is nearly as messy as a fire ball mike
  15. my EP9 will be there mined might need more dead weight as my tomcat has a habit of sliding something to do with lack of weight so i'm told don't know what they mean mike
  16. not sure which side you mean offside or passager side rear? but part no's for the rubber strip between the top of the door skin and the glass is BTR8866 OUTER-RH and BTR8867 OUTER-LH MIKE
  17. i know its not a challage truck but what about popays its a 90 caged winched 2" lift etc only little tyres but haven't you got 35's on the ibex just a thought mike
  18. when i registered my tomcat (was a disco) i had to fill in the form and send a cheque for an SVA they then gave me a date for a VIC as i had the correct no of points but they needed to check to decide. i had already MOTed and insured it due to misinformation turned up points we checked off and the only part of the chassis he showed any interest in was the wheelbase, as this is unchanged no probs so new tax was paid SVA cheque riped up and new log book saying tomcat in post. so you tell me because i know other people have had differing experances as for SVA/MOTs you have to get the car SVAed then MOTed but most test stations will do the MOT after they have finished the SVA (they charge you for SVA and MOT at standard rates) hope this helps if not your welcome to PM me if you want mike
