  1. A sidewall bulge will not be the same as the issue of "dry rot" or "ozone cracking", which is what your tyres appear to be suffering from. A sidewall bulge suggests a structural problem, a weakening of the sidewall usually caused by a joint in the carcass failing or the body plies separating. This is an inherently dangerous situation, as I'm sure you're aware. Ozone cracking should not affect the structural integrity of the tyre, unless it is bad enough to expose the carcass plies.
  2. Yeah, we used to do it way back when too. If anything, it's actually a bit better now, more difficult than it used to be, especailly when theres a bit of moisture around (when isn't there moisture around in the UK? 😉).
  3. Fairly sure they're not stretch bolts so are re-useable. Hopefully an adult will be along to confirm. Excerpt from the workshop manual simply says to torque to spec. Doesn't even mention the use of thread lock.
  4. My goodness, that is some serious ingenuity and fabrication. I'm in awe, keep up the good work, Stephen. Regards, Mark.
  5. You've made a lovely job of that. Very nice.
  6. Absolutely ingenious. Love the jury-rigged angle grinder set up. Dangerous? Nah, not a bit of it. 😆
  7. Brilliant work on the steering arm, Stephen. It's great to see this type of fabrication, an artisan at work. regards, Mark
  8. Terrible news, Stephen. Fingers crossed for the best possible outcome. Regards, Mark.
  9. Would that be the reason that she is now your "Ex wife"? 🤔 Sorry, nothing useful to add to your quandary.
  10. Witnessed this in action yesterday, my goodness it's BIG!!! 😉
  11. What a superb list of vehicles, well done sir.
  12. Yes, Steve, this is the system that is on the vehicle. The rad cap has the correct poppet valve but I think the spring may be too strong to open under the vacuum of the system. I have ordered a genuine cap from Blanchards, hopefully that will fix it.
  13. Yes, the system is the original and I should have used the words "expansion tank", rather than header tank. I understand how the system is supposed to work but mine doesn't draw coolant back into the radiator and the water level sits just below the top of the cooling fins after the engine has been run. It doesnt suffer from overheating, it just isn't working correctly. The cap I have fitted is a pattern part with unknown country of origin, I think it was supplied by Bearmach.
  14. Here's my list for my 88" Series 3, 2.25 petrol Overhaul gearbox (Often difficult to engage forward gears from standstill) Replace radiator cap (Allows coolant out into header tank but doesn't allow it to draw back into the system as it cools) Engine transplant (would like to swap to 200TDi) Overhaul front swivels (Pitted and rusted) Tidy up rusted areas of chassis and rock sliders (Surface rust) Replace cheap wipac side and indicator lights for better quality units Replace fog light lens (faded) Fit reverse light (surprising how much you miss them when you're used to driving modern vehicles) Fix engine oil leak (Negated if I ever manage to fit a 200TDi) Fix transfer box oil leak (Will be done when I overhaul the gearbox) There are probably a few more that I've missed off but it's a start.
  15. You'll get some back with the "Custom offset rims"?
  16. Didn't the Chancellor maintain the status quo on fuel duty in his recent budget? I thought I'd heard that he had, but I could easily be wrong. ETA: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/98845/autumn-budget-2021-fuel-duty-frozen
  17. Blanchards haven't closed yet. I think it will be a while before they do finally close. They are selling off their existing stock AFAIK. I checked their website and they are showing a genuine switch (PRC6387) in stock at £2.90. There'll be shipping on that, of course. Hopefully the replacement you have will be good.
  18. It is usually located in the centre of the dash. There is a housing with the Hazard Warning and Fog Lamp switch and warning lights. The relay should be situated behind the two piece panel/housing. At least that's where mine is in my '84 2.25 petrol 88".
  19. Maybe some kind of brake too? I suppose it is possible that there is one somewhere, if there is I don't see it, though.
  20. Pretty sure I've heard good things about them.
