  1. I have Gwyn Lewis props front and rear on my 90, as has been said they come with a cartridge of good quaility grease which is handy. They are heavy duty GKN drive line props pretty much with a good coat of blue paint, When I have to replace props on the other landys they will all be getting these, good solid grease nipples making maintenace straight forward. If you dont have a prop nut tool now is the time to buy one! Faffling with 2 spanners takes to long and if your going to be around landys for a while its worth having. I have naff all to do with Gwyn Lewis other than being a happy customer.
  2. I got that too! Did you open the package and the advert pop up ? (pod thing that springs up using an elastic band)
  3. Hi Not sure if there is a difference between a disco and defender sump but hereis one that might get you out of a fix. Hope that helps Ian
  4. This is a bit of a cross over between the fundrasing & forum information thread. Just a thought here would a LR4x4 pay and play day work? There seems to be plenty of experience in running challenge style events on here. Someone on here must have access to some land (hopefully for free) then have members marshal possibly with entry fees going into the forum funds ? This would maybe allow us to raid the pockets of the jap owners as it wouldn't have to be only open to land rover owners. If there were LR4x4 items for sale this would also be a good place to sell them possibly a BBQ with all profits going into the funds. Just a thought it could generate a larger amount of money quite quickly. Most sites seem to charge £20 -£30 plus. Even if to maximise the event it was run over a weekend open to the public as it were 10:00 - 16:00 saturday and sunday with an overnight camp optional to the marshals/members saving on travelling etc. I have no personal experience of running something like this but would happily stand at a BBQ for 2 days. Not sure if this is do-able or not but the more ideas put forward then even if just a small part of each is used something that benefits the forum finacially and socially has to be a good thing!
  5. I had this problem on an 1995 Defender 90 & 1999 110 the problem both times was the 3 position off/sidelight/dipped headlight switch/lever on the sterring column. Jiggling the wires will get you buy until the contacts in the switch die completly, at this point you Will be in a hurry to get where your going, it Will be raining and being that you want the lights on it Will be dark! Or is that just my luck? Na its a landrover thing! you gotta love em Once I located the problem I tried to fix the switch as I do like to take things to bits and put them back together however this case I found it not to be worth the effort so I bought a new one (however this was a britpart one) which didnt last to long (about a week) so thinking it must be something else on the defender (money hungry beast) as parts dont only last a week!!! I spent ages with a multimeter tracing wires all over the car, for about a week I had my lights set up on the twist the wires together method which worked very well. With nothing else to point to other than the switch I bought a genuine one (more money, less hassel) which worked a treat. The 90 I sold but the 110 I still have and the lights work a treat. Hope thats of some help.
  6. Thats RDX ply you know not just any old ply !!!! Don't forget the top tip to add YOUR OWN sound deadening material (not supplied) at £50 I wonder how may they sell ?
  7. If anyone does a group buy in the next month or so could you let me know. Cheers Ian
  8. They look good and compact, any ideas on price ?
  9. I have 50mm2 cable to a Durite 350amp plug on the left just inside the back door on top of the tub/wheel arch. Mine is there as it allows me to connect up to a power tipping trailer to charge the battery or run it directly. I have a rather long set of commercial jump leads that I added a plug to aswell should there be a need to jump start. One thing with these plugs you need to buy them all from the same maker as the connections are slightly different from one brand to another.(I found this out the exspensive way) I couldnt find a bolt that would fit the hex shaped head and have a thin enough thread to fit through the hole provided so taking the in for a penny in for a pound approach I drilled it out the hole to make it larger and there is enough plastic there to do this. Hope thats of some help to you If you want any photo's send me a pm with your email address. Ian
  10. It did rain a little ! I to got some X-cap/nuts & have diff plugs to trial and photo along with some small quick fist clamps. I picked up a few other bits and bobs but I dont seem to be able to locate an original 12V battery gauge for the life of me at the moment! I to was in the car but managed to park pretty close to the track out.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to write this up, to me this is what this forum is all about and sets it head and shoulders above others.
  12. I was in my local high street and saw plenty of moose roaming free over here !!!!
  13. I was in Norway the back end of last year and couldn't believe the price of alcohol, we went to the bar once and pretty much made a round last a long time. And as said already the price of food is pretty high also. Its not really a place to go on a tight budget or not in my experience, I intend to go again and would like to do an drive with a route similar to this with an easy going time scale allowing sightseeing etc... If camping/living out the landy I would certainly take with me as much cereal/rice/noodles/dried foods and squash to make drinks up as I could as you will see your money soon vanish on next to nothing!!! Thinking about it I would most likely go for a multifuel stove rather than a gas cartridge type incase you cant find the correct fitting that way the fuel for the vehicle is also the fuel for your cooker. I travel about a bit a la ryan air cheapo flights as and when they come up and have a something I call the Mcdonalds gauage this is basically finding out how much a big mac meal is in the country and Norway tops the list at £9.89 for a standard meal and yes you read that right. Its a lovely country with friendly people who on the whole speak English very well. Feel free to PM me if you wish to talk further. Ian
  14. ^^^^^^^ same here, 6mm pushfit 'T' if I remember rightly
  15. Reading this thread feels like therapy for horders !!! I feel very much at home.
  16. Hi I had a similar problem, here's the thread My link. Mine turned out to be snot would be the best way to discribe it in the fuel line, I dropped the tank and used an air line to blow the fuel lines clear from back to front. Hope its of some help to you.
  17. I have a 110 HD ex utillity which went through Special vehicles and has anti roll bars front and rear, when I had to replace the bushes on the rear anti roll bar for the MOT I had real hassel trying to get them as the anti roll bar is of a larger diameter than normal or so I found out after buying the normal size ones. I'd guess that the larger diameter has greater resistance but I'm sure someone who knows better will be along shortly.
  18. Near side window just after the B post, would that be pink fluffy dice you have hanging in your car ?????
  19. I know you have purchased the battery isolators but when I bought my 90 it had these fitted along the top side of the battery box next to the passenger seat on the door side. I didnt like it and replaced with these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REMOVABLE-KEY-BATTERY-ISOLATOR-SWITCH-250AMP-24V-060550-/310145023234?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4836157d02 then moved them to the front of the battery box in the foot well but in fairness they fitted very well and were also out of the way as they can be installed as far back as you like. Just another option for you, hope its of help.
