  1. I didnt intend to slag anyone, I have seen a few mates cars go missing locally, and even when the police were shown a CCTV of the theft where the faces of the thiefs were clearly seen, all they wanted to do was give a crime number, Im sure lots of police take this seriously I just dont seem to come across many. I speak as I find, btw nearly all were forced entry and break the steering lock, in a few cases the landrover was pushed a few yards away fron the house to lessen the noise, to be fair any semi literate teenager could steal a Landrover as the security as standard is laughable. anyone admit to buying cheap spares? its one cause of the thefts. I have a few friends who are in the force, they all complain that the amount of paperwork involved in even the smallest thing, perhaps as one said to me "after you catch them probably best not to ring us, but make sure the bodies are not traced back" could be a serious thing, unless things improve I can see more people taking things into their own hands.
  2. One problem is the complete lack of will to do anything by the police, last year a mates Isuzu was stolen (with keys) it had a tracker on, it was found in Doncaster with 5 similar vehicles outside a gypsy camp, when my mate asked what will you do about the other 5 he was told, "nothing they are not coming up as stolen," they didnt even run the numberplates.
  3. They are about £11, tip dont bother stipping the door down, just clean the bottom of the glass, lower the window half way. then run a bead of body sealant in the new channel. put the chanel on the glass and use the motor to lift it in place, wait a few hours and its fixed.
  4. A couple of years ago, on a monday I ordered a series rear crank oilseal, on mon aft they rang back asking was it 3 or 5 bearing. tues morning I rang to let hem have an engine number, weds they rang to ask was it a front or rear, by this time I asked would the part be here in time for a workshop slot I had booked, (use of engine hoist and lift) no problem said they, friday I rang to ask where the part was supposedly posted first class on weds morning. ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY DIDNT HAVE AN ORDER FROM ME! this year they were doing a special on new swivel balls that were re drilled for castor correction, I ordered thinking they must have improved from the other year. a few days later nothing had arrived, I rang to be told oh no we dont have any in stock. I wouldnt give Paddocks the steam off my............

  8. This is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your mobile phone. ICE - 'In Case of Emergency' We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence the 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile)phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call.. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.' For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today! Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this . It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest . ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.
  9. Greenlaning is NOT off road, they are just unmade, they are still legally roads, not many insurances will cover you for pay and play, you are not covered but as its not on road you dont need to be. as each insurance broker has different deals, sit down with a copy of one of the comics and a phone for an hour.
  10. A bloke I know used a normal lpg cylinder and regulator, using a solenoid switched on full throttle. he had it working for a few months when I last saw him, it gave a good shove in the back.
  11. Yup I am a BCO, for some reason we need to look at your wiring, we only look at the layout and chopping through joists etc, anything more technical we let our sparkie check things, as said you can lay the wires and fix the boxes, just get a qualified sparks to connect and test everything, another case of a few numpties doing DIY badly affecting everyone else.
  12. yes but they overhang the intercooler.
  13. I think before it will start the new engine need plugging in to a computer.
  14. You will struggle to buy a replacement full one, the manufacturer stopped last xmas, I had to buy a genuine one at IIRC £150.
  15. ATS are the same company, Im told they can do a good deal, AFTER I paid £125 for one.
  16. It should be ok, no worse than rust repair, the welding needs to be tidyer tho.
  17. and why I use ORRP more than here.
  18. push the glass out from the inside starting in one corner, use string to put it back. and soapy water.
  19. On my old 200tdi range rover I only remember the fan coming on a couple of times in traffic, on the 200tdi disco it only comes on when working hard then stopping, and then only for a minuite or so, I would not run without one, but removing the viscous fan makes a difference to warm up and the car feels better on pickup.
  20. a couple of years ago, ORRP members were asked to leave his billing stand, as a couple of coded welders were pointing out how shoddy/dangerous the welding was on his stuff.
  21. Probably I also got him to pose for a pic with the ORRP mascot, knowing what ORRP think of him. he has got a sense of humour.
  22. I have met Colin several times, when we marshalled the old Scrapiron challenge series, I told him once or twice I would not spend money with him and why, (ethics) he countered with an offer for rear springs at basically cost, I still didnt buy any as he says there is no such thing as bad advertising, if someone slags him off, someone else will look them up, and probably spend money with him. what will the chequebook offroaders do now?
