  1. The slot in the plastic bushes in the hinges is slightly off-center, try turning them and see what happens.
  2. It must be some "aftermarket" one, nothing that was there from the factory IMHO. The earth lead necessary for the starter is a lot more sturdy and sits further front from the block to the chassis.
  3. It will be quite obvious to check the gasket if you just take the rocker cover off and start the engine...
  4. On mine, the headgasket had gone and leaked to the rearmost pushrod hole. Like yours, no decrease in performance could be felt, just overpressure in the ventilation causing oil everywhere.
  5. I bought a pair second hand yesterday... Will put these on instead of the MoD bumperettes.
  6. Would be interesting to watch a bicycle innertube at 1 bar... Considerably less pressure will also most likely show if the intercooler is leaking. Just pump it up so it's balloning and watch if it stays that way.
  7. Uncle Les with the final word... The rest of us are merely discussing possibilities.
  8. Well, of course possible, but doesn't make anything but noise. IMO it's better to shift up and get the torque up again.
  9. Have you checked the bushes in the rear? Could be rear wheel steering caused by worn bushes, especially those up front in the trailing arms. Also check the three bolts on each side that hold the bush in place. A guy in Norway (wobble hd on here) had this problem with his 90 and it turned out that the bolts were M8 when the proper size is M10...
  10. And regarding steering damper, just buy a standard one. Cheap and well up to its job if you don't run massive tyres.
  11. Marius, You don't need a tacho, use the speedo. Rev to 40 kph in 2nd, 60 in 3rd and 80-90 in 4th. If revs are too low, you feel it in your a**.
  12. I have never got my boost gauge to move when freerevving. Like others have said, you have to drive it and uphill with foot on floor to get a true reading.
  13. And the aircleaner isn't blocked? I ask because I had the same symptoms, it turned out that a piece of plastic foam blocked the airbox inlet...
  14. According to Paddock's webshop, they are the same. Same part No for both engines.
  15. No pic, but they are indeed marked. Just capital letters in the same style as "LUCAS" and "ENGLAND" saying "FRONT" and "REAR".
  16. No link, but try Craddock. That company always seems (to me) to be a bit more dedicated when odd Land Rover parts are concerned.
  17. I certainly don't crawl under with a bottle jack as only support... Proper wheel stands first, then I can think about it.
  18. I usually flip the Land Rover on its side when it's time to do anything underneath. If the ground is soft, there will be a minimum of scratches. Sorry... Working under the 110 is no problem, I'm not really fat (just a little...), so there's plenty of room if I lay on my back. The Disco is another matter. Maybe that's why I don't really bother to fix what I ought to fix?
  19. The lenses will fit. Red lenses rear are most outward, yellow inside. The kit in the pic is for a vehicle, flat read lenses are for the fog lights and you will have two yellow as spares. I can't give you any advise for license plate. What's OK here is a completely different matter...
  20. I have 761s at the front with a MileMarker hydraulic and a "Paddock" winch bumper. Compared to standard springs, they lifted the front a little less than 2". I had LR HDs on for a while that are 230 lbs/inch, they lifted almost exactly 40 mm compared to standard. Reason for changing was that a little softer springs compresses more offroad. The 761s suit me fine together with OME dampers a little harder than standard. Edited to say that the engine nowadays is a 200Tdi.
  21. I had a friend with a SIII 88" while I was driving a modified GAZ-69 for fun. The Land Rover had (still has!) something special that made an impression on me. Not to speak of everything around like magazins, web etc. So off I went to buy a 109" STW, later replaced with my everyday driven 110. I'm hooked...
  22. And it only comes together in the correct position. When you find that, there will be no problem to push it home.
  23. I use a pump from a Chevy truck to power my MM. Does exactly what can be expected. Not fast with no load, but the speed remains the same regardless of load. If too much, it just stops, something that never has happened to me. Leccy winches might be fast with no load, but very slow when they have to pull hard. Talking standard winches now, not upspeeded and modified ones.
  24. Spacing for the Nato hook seems to be (c/c) 85 x 45 mm. Measured as good as possible with the bolts in place... Four M12 as said before.
