  1. Have had Tom Tom Naigator 5 on my mobile and currently have co-pilot. Hae tried the landrover version in the old model freelander (voice only) and the one in the latest Freelander 2. Tom Tom and Freelander two are hard to compair of all tried. Preference probably would be Tom Tom installed on my phone.
  2. ve been told they go around 50k. I lost the one on my TD4 at 54k in spectacular fashion fortunately repaired under warranty.
  3. V6 is nice if you can afford the petrol but having had the usual head gasket problem on one after owning the car for 3 months I would steer clear. Ours was under warranty so we got a full new engine but that was not the point it took 3 month to sort and we finally got rid of it after another 3 months for a TD4.
  4. Nowt wrong with Freelanders. I am talking generally not specifically as my own has been with the dealer for the last week There are more and more freelanders on the road, Particularly as the Freelander is the most popular 4x4xfar to stael a phrase.
  5. Hi have dogs and have done shows. We installed the Landrover guards to the back of our car and they worked a treat. We noticed that our dogs could get cold with the door fully open and the landrover items gave a little more flexibility and more secutity. Still have both guards and fitting kits if required.
  6. Hi welcome Enjoy the car they are good fun despite what the others on this forum might say. Your car should be quite capable off road. Mine was only lacked ground clearance but on the whole as good as my classic though I never set any real challenges for it.
  7. Blippie He's bought a Landrover so it is a promise Potshot Welcome to the club and happy Landrovering.
  8. Steve Don't knock the standard Frellander. I had my 05 plate FL offroad and alledgedly had it airbourne. The only problem that I encountered was the ride height other than that went most places that the Range Rovers went.
  9. Steve Sorry to be a bore but you should not go off road by yourself. If you roll in the middle of nowhere you could be seriously injured and no be in a position to get help.
  10. BM He has redirected the exhaust via the front of the car in chrome. What a waste of a FL
  11. Have towed a 1.5 tonne twin axle with a TD4 Auto fine over a three year period. A little under powered at higher speeds but no problem towning. Looking forward to trying out the FL2 next year the extra power should eat the caravan.
  12. Ah my favourite subject "Rules" I enjoy a good case of car and mouse with the legalities and have spent many years "getting away" with minor traffic offences ie parking and the occasional speeding. The law is very complex and there are all sorts of law which impact on all sorts of laws. Whilst not being legally qualified I have represented myself in court and won. On speaking with a client of mine who was a solicitor he advised that the signs are critical and if not placed correctly then then the law cannot be applied. If the 30 sign for example is not at 90 degrees to the road it does not exist. If yellow lines do not have end stops then they are not enforceable. When looking for a place to park I will always seek out a line that does not have an end stop or has a break in it and before leaving my car I use my phone to take a photo. I have never had to use it yet but would always write first sooner than pay the fine. Always remember "the law is for the adherence of fools and the guidance of wise men" better £30 in my pocket than the coffers of the govenment. Finally not qualified to offer legal advice so this is not advice just the way I deal with things
  13. Interesting views but I think everyone including th Editor in cheif is in full agreement that this type of advertising is not for Landrover Magazines. Must admit I was surprised and disappointed to see it.
  14. We have owned a V6 ES on a 53 plate, an TD4 HSE Auto on an 05 plate and a TD4 HSE Auto on an 57 ignoring the current model the V6 had plenty of power but was sore on fuel, the TD4 went well for 54000 miles over a 2.5 year period an felt this was the better of the two. We had the usual head Gasket problem which required a replacement engine so I would feel happier steering clear of all petrol models especially if I am buy for someone else.
  15. Have just received this Months LRO and on Page 241 there is a full page advert that can only be discribed as being at home in the Daily Sport. I don't consider that I am a prude in any form but do not feel that this is appropriate in a Landrover Magazine just would like to canvas opinion am I right or am I just getting to be an old over protective parent?
  16. I perfer to work on the beleif that rules are for the adherence of fools and the guidance of wise men!! My last speeding charge was dropped by the prosecution because I have a communication disorder and I represented myself in court asking for "full access" took a while but it was very interesting . The only reason I got off was by sticking to the letter of all the laws.
  17. Welcome to the club. It looks good well done.
  18. Steve Hi and welcome Sorry I don't know much about the early models as I always have Rangies up until I bought a 53 Plate V6 for my wife. Snce then have has an 05 Plate TD4 and a 57 plate TD4. Having had the head gasket problem with the V6 I would avoid at all costs the petrol engine models. I beleive that as with the MGB's there is a simple fix in terms of the head gasket type but I don't know what it is and am not getting my hands dirty at the moment fixing cars so am unlikely to find out. Landrovering is good fun stick at it and don't buy a Ford. You will get alot of help and sound advice here however maybe not from me.
  19. Dennis Before my TD4 my wife had the V6 what problems did you have? Headgasket probs? Ours needed a new engine after 26k. three months after we go it. The new pertol engines are tried and tested from the Ford stable I beleive so there should not be the same issues as the old K series engines. That said I would not entertain the petrol prices will drop like stones.
  20. Had a 2005 MY TD4 HSE which was due for replacement in April next year. Had already started looking in July and really wanted a New Disco but could not afford what I wanted. Upshot was I had a minor problem with my car and Landrover Assistance gave me a Freelander 2 TD4 Manual HSE for three days. Within 12hrs of collecting the car I was smitten and telephoneing the dealers. That was a Monday at the end of July. By the end of that week I had placed an order for an Auto. My old FL was an Auto and I could have had a Manual much quicker but my enduring memory of the manual was the weight of the clutch which remined me of my classic Range Rovers. Took delivery last week of a FL2 HSE TD4 Auto. have just done 500 miles in a week (normal for me) and I am absolutely smitten all over again it is a lovely vehicle. After placing my order I blew the diff on my old car, (whilst awaiting delivery of the FL2) this time LR Assist gave me a Disco HSE. Nice car but I prefer the FL2 better finished and more modern in feel the Disco needs updated and the "toys" improved. I would certainly go for the Auto over the Manual, go for the Diesel over the Petrol the performance is exceptional for a diesel and is better that the Petrol if you look at the preformance figures. On my courtest car I was driving at 110mph without realising and have to be careful in the new car even though it is only a week old. You are welcome here even with an old Defender although some of us have old Range Rovers too B) B)
  21. Sorry I am dyslexic so mispell things all the time. KO
  22. gyorgy The easiest way to test the motor is to connect it straight to a 12v supply If the motor works from the supply directly you know it is the switch and vice versa.
  23. WOW that is heavy going from what I can work out someone has produced perpetual motion.......Hmmmmm
  24. Thanks I have a large format printer in the office I wonder if I could print it out Full Scale? An if I coulour it black it will be in better nick than my CSK
