  1. Yep, sometimes Mikey needs a prod more than once in the right direction.... On another note, I just found my M/C is dead, except this locks the brakes ON with a solid pedal ...
  2. Strange you should have had trouble, I used them on my 4.0 and torqued up fine -yes they stick up a bit, but none stripped and tightened up well. I'm sure the coarse thread was longer than you suggest too, seemed to take ages to screw in with an allen key.
  3. Well finally got a chance to look at them, then realised I have confused replacing the M/C on a Series 2a lightweight (no servo, single line) with my later series 3 with dual line and servo system, which doesn't have any adjustment on the actuating rod, that I can see, does it? Have the factory manual to hand and it is not mentioned at all. If there is no adjustment, I'll get a M/C ordered up, and no it won't be in a blue box! Brake fluid looks slightly mucky too, so would fit with the M/C being U/S.... is it worth trying a rebuild kit? Not tried one before, just dropped new Lockheed ones in place...
  4. Pretty sure you require longer or dropped shocks for springs to fall out on a standard 90, I doubt LR would have let them leave the showroom in this state.
  5. Have you tried clamping them all and seeing what the pedal is like? I am still mooting the master cylinder...
  6. http://www.yrm-metal-solutions.co.uk/043-ns--front-axle-54mm-part-a-radius-arm-bracket-122-p.asp http://www.yrm-metal-solutions.co.uk/042-os-front-axle-54mm-part-a-radius-arm-121-p.asp Very very very nice people to deal with
  7. Looked at X-springs? They don't dislocate... http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-Spring.asp Aside from that there are companies that will build to spec, but I suspect what you want to acheive will either end up with springs far to soft for the application, or coil bind on compression. Why the insistance for a non-dislocating setup, aside from the supposed traction benefits?
  8. And a different wanter pump, but basing it purely on fan blade count is nonsense, there was even a factory fit option for a 7 blade fan (I know this because a friend of mine ordered a brand new one when working for Shell in Kenya in the 1960s)
  9. Exactly? PP for a cable? Are you crossing someone else's land or summat? I used to run ~400ft (beyond Cat5 specs!) of Cat5 cable tied to a chain link fence, worked fine for years, and still is AFAIK (I left where it was...)
  10. VERY similar, except it has no body on this one (Asia Rocsta body about to go on, with a Lexus V8 in it :)) Back to topic, sorry!
  11. Military 2.25s have a 7 blade fan too!
  12. I'm thinking a dead, newly supplied, master cylinder, or the actuation rod is maladjusted.
  13. Cheers FF & dn, had been looking at those but found it hard to get a good review, you made my mind up.... now I can make cables fit how *I* want and not what I get made up somewhere and have to hide the excess...
  14. You'd find it struggling to pull at those engine revs TBH, I would leave it as is it, and IIRC it's a box modification to change anyways. 53mph is the book speed, so 80kmh isn;t far out at all, allowing for speedo innaccuracies.
  15. Remove the passenger side grille on the windscreen scuttle panel and you can see it, assuming yours isn't a soft dash. Removal is fiddly with a couple of 10mm bolts holding it in, sometimes the connector wil lpull through, sometimes not, if not it's time to dismantle the dashboard... See here for instructions: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/PRC8010.cfm
  16. I would love it if mine just made less noise, and stayed in first/second on overrun!
  17. Good good, didn't want you struggling unnecesarily
  18. Have you seen the swivel rebuild thread in the tech archive?
  19. Try Academy Insurance, a VERY modified RRC with full off road cover, £230. http://www.academyinsurance.co.uk/4x4-insurance.aspx Been with them 3 years now, premium has only ever gone down.
  20. Excellent video, one to show the cheque book offroaders, virtually standard vehicles doing it the LR way My Granddad was in Bogata in the 50's, in a Land Rover, he has some stories to tell I can tell you
  21. A Jack between axle/radius arm and chassis means you can fit without compressors very easily.
