  1. I does smoulder very well when it drops onto the turbo. That and the standard vinyl transmission tunnel are all thats in mine soundproofing wise.
  2. Vulcan bomber on here has the 300tsunami cover cut down to fit his 200 defender and doesn't seem to make it any quieter. On mine I've got the 300tdi full bonnet soundproofing and its a lot more effective. It's a bit close to the turbo though.
  3. Could be a 1.6 ratio transfer box but that would still get to over 60.
  4. frogs island used to fit iveco 2.8's many years ago, i'm pretty sure they at least did a lightweight and a 90.
  5. You still have to lift the vehicle higher, rather than lifting the axle directly.
  6. the oil shouldn't do, mine has 10w40 in it most of the time. When was the last time the tappets were adjusted?
  7. Taking a 2.5p to 2.8, stage 2 head, uprated cam and SU carb gets to 117bhp and 177lbf.ft so bit more power but still less torque and further up the rev range And it will still drink petrol at a fair rate. A well set up V8 would be a better option than a 2.5 imo. But i'd have a tdi over either.
  8. My 1st 110 was a 2.5P i don't remember it being much quieter than my current 200tdi. (My tdi isn't that noisy, can listen to the radio or have a conversation easily at 70mph). You'll certainly notice how much less power it has 83bhp vs 107bhp for defender 200tdi. and torque is down to 133lbf.ft from your tdi's 188lbf.ft. Part of the reason I sold mine was the engine was well worn and would struggle on steep hills never mind towing and even converted to lpg, 14mpg didn't make it cheap to run.
  9. personally i consider a hi lift jack too unstable for changing wheels, your better lifting the axle with a bottle or trolley jack.
  10. I use Tractor enamel at work and its what my rear crossmember is painted with. not too expensive either from my local supplier.
  11. This year, its why quite a few treadpatterns have been withdrawn or updated.
  12. My 200tdi only had a single pulley till recently.
  13. If the bush's are that worn what are the dampers like? Not a lot of point rebushing worn dampers.
  14. shouldn't need tyres as aggresive as insa turbo's for greenlaning either. as for the original question a locker is more use.
  15. Michelin do the latitude and XZL in 7.50, both are factory option. I've got XZL's on mine and really like them.
  16. Mine that we fitted came from mailorder4x4, very good service and quick delivery. I've only done 15k since we fitted it at new year though.
  17. A rise with water then a squirt of brake cleaner i've found gets them going. Only ever had to do it to my friends td5. My 200tdi carries on charging when driven through muddy water. But his stops.
  18. Aston Martin DB4 GT Talbot Lotus Sunbeam Aston Martin Lagonda (Late model with working dash and upgraded engine) Caterham superlight 400 McLaren F1 Range Rover Evoque Series 1 80' Series 1 81' Very early 3dr RR in lincoln green 1990 Camel Trophy 127 Double cab 1991 Camel Trophy 110 Camel Trophy Discovery 300tdi Camel Trophy Freelander Defender 90SV Defender 110 td5, kitted out for trips away. That should about do, don't want to be too greedy.
  19. And the Evoque is so popular that new orders are quoted as may delivery at the very earliest, it must be what the public want and having seen an evoque go round land rover experience north yorks off road course on tues i was impressed.
  20. the standard temp gauge doesn't show fluctuations in temperature until the engine is actually overheating. if you plugged a nanocom or similar you'd notice the temp rising quite a bit on the digital readout.
  21. I used to use it in the wheels on my old rover as rover rims are notorious for leaking round the bead. can't remember the name, i got it from my local farm supplies place. Did the job but the tyre fitter wasn't too pleased when it covered his machine when i fitted new tyres.
  22. before you fitted it did you see a manufacturers stamp on the pressure plate or friction plate? just wondering who makes them for britpart.
  23. PM me your email address and i'll send you a pdf of the manual. Martin
  24. At home i've got 70-85 and 85-95 genuine computerised parts book on cd, so a dealer should have them as well.
