  1. I think mud flaps at the rear make it look a lot nicer. I have quick release ones so I can take them off when off roading and so wont damage them or bend them back on themselves because thats how they often split! Steve
  2. Hi, Best bet is to do a search, lots of info in the tool and fabrication section as well as in the tech archive. Steve
  3. Well if your getting the cylinder head skimmed I'm guessing you'll be stripping the head as it will need to be cleaned to get rid of all the swarf after it is skimmed. Then you can clean and lap all the valves in, make sure you label all the valves and springs to there corresponding hole. The valves will take up most of the combustion chamber and beings it is flat, the rest of the carbon should just scrape off. When I say 'scrape', gentle scrapping is needed as you do not want to mark the cylinder head. Also scotchbrite is also good to use to clean back to a shinyish finsh and to remove the little bits of carbon. Steve
  4. Paddocks do them, but there only 50mm and I don't know how good/well made they are! Steve
  5. Hi, I've just replaced my dash lights with LED bulbs. The standard bulbs are 501's, (sometimes called T10) do a search on ebay for '501 LED bulbs' and it brings up loads! These are the push fit variety. Steve
  6. Hi, I have just been dismantling my wiper motor assembly as I need a new brush pack. If I understand correctly you have the worm gear on the new motor, but to replace the old motor with the new you need to remove the sprocket which is rotated by the worm gear. It seems to be a very thin circlip/E clip which just clips on. How I removed it was to use two stumpy flat bladed screw drives and push the clip ends towards you with your thumbs on the opposite side of the casting, I eventually managed to remove it, but yes it is a very thin clip. Also be carefull not to loose it! Hope this helps Steve
  7. Hi, It maybe worth stripping the carb and finding someone with a sonic bath to shake the tinny dirt particles out of all the passage ways as it could be dirty or old fuel is sitting in there. I did this to an old Yamaha motorbike so I guess it would work for a land rover! Steve
  8. Hi Ash, Happy new year to you! Thats sounds like a good idea, something different. I hear other clubs use it for trials as well. Is this site like Brick Kiln, lots of trees etc?
  9. This sounds like Guys old 110? Steve
  10. Excellant! Look forward to seeing it. I still need to make my front winch bumper and waffle board holders, but they wont be done by Mannington! Steve
  11. Well its only to get you home, granted you could be a fair few miles away, but Sahara's are directional also. Definitly a good tyre though!! Steve
  12. Let me know if you do need more punch cards and I'll get some sorted, I'm sure Si wont mind using his laminator again! Steve Oh and thanks Rich (DLander) for the directions to the site.
  13. I have a set of Recip Trial in the 265/75/16 flavour. I chose these over the Sahara's as everybody had those and these looked a bit different, there's more side wall tread and most importantly they look really nice - very important when buying tyres! The road miles I have done on them are fine, you can hear the tyre whinning in the background, but I guess you get that with most off road tyres. When off road they perform very well in my view. These are the only off road tyres I have used so I cannot compare them against other tyres. Steve
  14. I plan on entering at least the three punch challenges and then see how I get on with one of the special stage events. So I will be entering the first event of the series at Wellington on 6 March 2010. Here are the other dates, I will try and keep all dates free and I'm guessing that the double weekend includes a punch challenge and special stage event, so I'll probably be attending that one. 1 May 2010 3 July 2010 (Bampton) 4 September 2010 16/17 October 2010 (Wellington) Steve
  15. Registration is in the post (tomorrow!) This will give me an even bigger incentive to get the front winch bumper made, otherwise I'll see how far I get with just a rear winch! Looking forward too it though as it is my first winch challenge event let alone series! Steve
  16. Nick's right! The co-op in Cowfold is also shut due to adverse weather conditions! Hopefully the pub will be open though! Steve
  17. It's snowing in Cowfold! Should be fun tomorrow!
  18. Aside to your diff problems, I'm thinking about doing a few events this year (maybe some of JST's events and some of the challenger series)after I get my front winch bumper made and have already decided that I will have to camp for the weekend. This is not a problem as loads of the howling wolf guys say that the camp fire/bbq is half the fun. Hope this helps. Steve
  19. I used 90 deg fittings (bought off ebay) as you can then cable tie the breather pipe (also bought of ebay) to the axle out of harms way. Steve
  20. I'll be there, it will be nice to have a new site to explore. Steve
  21. I'm sure this has been covered before (well worth a search on here) as you just need to buy some pipe and fittings, thats what I did anyway and its a lot cheaper than the so called 'kits'! Steve
  22. Will there be a burger van there tomorrow or do we need to bring a packed lunch? Steve
  23. Cool, see you at the weekend, hopefully the weather will be as nice as it was this weekend! Steve
  24. I will be attending, I like Brick Kiln, I was there this weekend with the Shire lot! Whats the admission fee and time to get there? Steve
  25. It was fine yesterday, I didn't sustain any damage. I think 15-20 cars turned up, which is ok as it is a small site. And YES you did miss out on a good day, I noticed you haven't updated your build thread yet?! Any progress made with the roll cage? Steve
