  1. We have just complete stage 2 of the "create standing hight in a 110" project : fitted the Roll Cage. So what we do is a bit different from what this topic is about.. In Holland, several options are on the market and this has to be one of the lowest profile ones Most conversions raise the roof by some 80 mm This one bij about 10 mm For the Series conversions a very workable solution - basically 4 pieces of a 6-10 mm.thick steel strip, welded on the corners and bent over the rear door to keep everything in place when the roof was up. Very simple, very workable and not too expensive. The fabric is usually HD tent fabric. For those interested, I have more pics of this conversion and others... As I said, we are doing it a bit different as we had to have a full external roll cage and that is a bit complicated to mix with a full pop up roof...
  2. Right, as the Hybrid's build is very slowely progressing, another project just arrived. I need to fit a 300 Ex. disco with ZF mounted to it into a 110 with a to be rebuild 300 Tdi. Obviously, the flywheel needs to be replaced as the 110 is a manual one. The injector pump on the "new to me engine" is drive by wire. Am I right in thinking I can swop the top bit on the injector pump to make it drive by cable ?
  3. Hi Mike, " The roller he refers to is the aircon tensioner for a 200tdi fits over the pump pulley hole similar to above. " Sorry, you've lost me there..
  4. Thank You !! It seems, hopefully, we can reposition the alternator as that would be easier..
  5. Mr. Lewis came back to me and as I can't weld, I'm more than happy to buy his bracket to mount the alternator. His seems to be good quality and well thought out. However, I will need a "roller" to reroute the fan belt a bit. This is a very nice & simple solution that seems to work - however, I need that roller that moves the fan belt out of the way. Any idea where to get it ?
  6. Yes, I have spoken to them this morning and they think they can help but I was wondering if here somebody has had the same situation and found an interesting solution.
  7. As I'm having some issues with the lack of space for the turbo intake in the Hybrid, I was wondering, looking at the 300 Tdi turbo set up, if a 300 Tdi exhaust manifold would fit a 200 Tdi engine ? They are both ex Discovery.. By the looks of it, the 300 Turbo position would solve a few problems.
  8. I tried to find some solid answers but nothing yet, so I hope somebody here can help me.. I'd like to either reposition the the standard alternator from way low - and in the way of much - to where the optional aircon pump is fitted. I know it is possible - but what is needed ? Please let me have your thoughts !
  9. Thanks ! 3-phase is for me no problem. We have quite a few 3-phase tools
  10. Yes - there should be quite a bit of paperwork to base this story on - and that should state the VIN number. What does the engine # relate to ? Also, you mention " a gearbox oil temperature warning light ". Can you please show a picture of that ?
  11. I suggest you inform the Police about all this - and other LR owners. Perhaps more vehicles have had this happen and the more info the better. Here, the Gendarmerie likes to hear this sort of thing.. BTW, snow in Scotland ? Was there last week... ...and then on to Wales & Somerset....
  12. Reading this makes me really looking for either a 4 poster or, IF I can find one, a good scissor lift. Keep it coming, please !
  13. Cage was installed while in Wales. Custom made for the ribbed roof and planned mods to the roof.
  14. Looks more like a Freelander III
  15. Back Home. About 3,592 Miles in 12 days. No real problems en route.
  16. ehm..... 300 Tdi engine & rollcage
  17. Right..About to leave for a small Road Trip. BY trip was cancelled just before I took off - very happy not to go.. Off to Holland tomorrow for 3 days of running courses. Ferry to Hull, Hull -> Edinbrugh, Edinbrugh -> Durness, Durness -> Edinbrugh, Edinbrugh -> Wales, Wales -> Somerset, Somerset -> Emsworth, Portmouth -> Le Havre, Le Havre -> Home. 10 days. - about 4,500 mles. With a trailer behind the 110 most of the way... So, if you see a Keswick green 110 on French plates towing a trailer, please wave..
  18. Working with trains & locomotives, the original ones are waaaay too loud.... Make sure when you test to wear ear protection.
  19. Thanks you !!!! I should have thought of them - they have helped me before.... Senior moment...
