  1. Without pics & details there is not a lot to be said.. LR SVO / SV have in the past created 6x6 and 6x4 vehicles, both with leaf & coil springs or various clients, mostly utility companies. Several were build for Overland companies, so LHD is not that unusual. The VIN may tell you something, but many were issued with standard No's. Parts for the 6x6 drive are not cheap - Foley's have a lot of parts. With the Foley pricetag..
  2. Welcome to the Madhouse. Yes - awesome pics and I really enjoy the Iran trips (go there for work). Friend of mine is in Turkey right now en route from Kazachstan to Holland. Thanks for posting ! P.S. Your English is better than mine..
  3. No idea - never used them. Had mine from FirstFour - they galvanized them upon request before powder coating Very happy with them.
  4. Like the man said, at times the engine & gearbox like each other so much they don't want to be parted.. Gentle help - pry bar, tapping - may help. Make sure you undid all the bolts.... Yes - it happens...
  5. Fautras is very, very good. We had ours for 15 years and it has done many, many miles.. We have one for sale.... UK any takers ? The Mrs. prefers using the Iveco for the many miles she does with usu 1 horse IT is just that the body is not ideal for horse transport and she'd used an Iveco with the IW Container and really liked it. Me ?? I'd prefer to go for a 7,5 ton one from the UK - and she has an HGV licence, too - but they are extremely expensive here and a pain to get homologated when importing one..
  6. Hmm..... Reading this last comment makes considering getting one build by IW not really tempting... Hopefully we can find a suitable container for normal money. Just got a quote from a French builder to make a IW look-a-like.. Need to sit down..
  7. Thank you guys for thinking with me on this - much appreciated ! 1 - We have a 5 tonne Iveco Daily that is in good condition and the Mrs really likes to drive. The 2.8 is a very good engine and easy to service etc. 2 - It is not easy to get the body homologated in France for horse transport 3 - The Mrs. has driven an Iveco with the IW Container body and she really liked it 4 - These ramps & angles are quite workable for our horses and the railings are a nice touch (below an Iveco) 5 - The IW body is about 1/2 tonne lighter than the present one 6 - Money. Getting a body build etc. is not cheap. IW UK is a bit vague if they can still make them (to order) and what money they want for that. We're talking to them but they don't seem too interested...
  8. Thank you very much. Just gave them a call and although very helpful, they did not have this sort of bodies.. They'd love to build me one though... The search continues...
  9. I know this is not for a Land Rover - but you guys get around and just maybe know about one.. This is an Ifor Williams Horse Truck body - and we're looking for one to go onto an Iveco Daily chassis. IW France could not tell me if they are still being made - I'd prefer a good used one obviously.. Logistics can be sorted - no real problem there. Many thanks !!
  10. I'd suggest you measure the temp of engine etc. before doing much else. We have IT guns for that and they make life so much easier. Bon Courage !
  11. Without seeing the vehicle etc. there is only one thing to suggest and that is going to a specialist and have it talk to a computer.
  12. I have access to calibrated scales both here and in Holland and yes, margins are always interesting.. We deal with trains (up to 2.600 tonnes) and ships (a lot more) and often we have interesting variations in the paperwork once the sums are done..
  13. " Did you also have the winch and and bumper on back then? " I'll dig out a picture of what we had on the scales to visualize.. IF I can find them as we're moving servers at the moment..
  14. I make a living out of paperwork, Customs & transport of things and have so far in 35 years never found the actual weight of a vehicle, trailer, truck, whatever to be what is on the "official paperwork".. And if you're going to get close to the max. it is really important to have actual figures to work with as it could lead to real nasty situations when you get it wrong. Often, the empty weight of trailer can be as much as 20 % lower on paper are on the scales.. For this 110, the "kerb weight" is about 23 % lower than what you see. So we weigh everything we make paperwork for, transport, etc. so we know really what we're talking about. Yes, winchbumper, sliders, rear bashplate, Series roof, twin tanks, etc. all influence the total weight. After the roll cage goes on, we'll weigh it again. We very often tow trailers, transport vehicles, have oversized loads and meeting with uniforms are so much easier when you know for a fact what you're talking about and are legal. And as I travel a lot across borders and in France, like Germany, they like to have a go at towing vehicles as many accidents happen because of overlaoding etc so it pays to have it all compliant.. And it is fun to see them realise that they're not going to win...
  15. Deep Sigh..... How many of you actually put your vehicle on a weighbridge ? Think they all vary a lot...
  16. Full vehicle is 2.360 kgs.on the weighbridge.. Not sure where the weight comes from..
  17. Did you talk to Richards ? Sometimes they have one "lying around" from a cancelled order etc...
  18. The 110 with a 300 Tdi, without roof and rear body rolled in around the 1970 kgs.
  19. May I ask... Obviously, a socket but I have not seen one yet...
  20. OK - see where you're coming from. However, from abroad, monthly donations aren't easy to make and in fact quite expensive... Let me see what the accountant says - if you want Continental money that...
  21. Hope you guys don't mind me taking part in this conversation as I live far away in dark rural France.... What is the logic behind this ? So, £2 PM 'Gold'( = £ 24 a year) or £25 per year Silver So less money, more monthly costs to get the money is Gold... I rather have a yearly invoice to sponsor than this monthly thing, esp. living abroad... What am I missing please ?
